Description
Phew...it's done! Aragorn has officially taken up more of my time than any other drawing I have ever completed, but I am really happy with it. Still, I don't know if I can handle another dirty and bloody LOTR character--eek, its an insane amount of detail that looks bad no matter what I try! Yay for pretty elves...2B graphite
blending stump
canson paper
~20 hrs.
Naturally, I don't own rights to anyone or anything in The Lord of the Rings. I just enjoy drawing pretty things.

Right, well, I haven't been able to find very many pics that truly capture the gorgeous-ness that IS Aragorn/Viggo (he he, I love that name) anyway, this is super fantastic. Thanks for inspiring me!!!

good but whered'you get da name elessar from?
what does elessar mean?

Elessar is one of the Elvish names Tolkien gave Aragorn (almost every character and sword in the trilogy has multiple names). If memory serves, it means "hope."
If you listen closely in some parts of the movies, you can hear Elessar whispered (ie when Aragorn is tempted by the ring or by Suron).

I thought I was getting pretty good at my people...! My stick figures actually have started getting limbs that are relatively the same size! Amazing that someone could have the patience to do that 0.o; How do you keep from smearing everything!

After years and years of smearing graphite everywhere, I finally trained myself to draw left to right (I'm right-handed). I've looked at other WIPs from other artists that are a drawn a little bit everywhere--and I have no idea how they manage to keep things clean!

How did you do the whites? You let the spaces.....?
Superb, great detailing, like everything you do.

I hope I understand your question correctly...anyway, for the white areas on the hair, for example, I used a sharpened eraser. Couldn't draw without one, in fact. If I have the foresight, I leave areas blank and shade around them, but this doesn't happen too much.

A sharpened eraser? Oooooh, but of course! So simple, but seems to work perfectly. I will try that, definitely. Thanks a lot!
(By the way, havn't seen something new from you in a while)
