This summer, my friend ~seagull49-er did a series of incredibly cute elemental dragons, and of course, being the dragon maniac I am, I immediately fell in love with them and decided I wanted to do my own elemental dragon series. Unfortunately, I am absolutely NO GOOD at drawing cute dragons. My forte is the big, nasty, powerful dragons. So seagull49-er and I are doing a companion series. She's drawing the tiny elemental dragons who very cutely do their work out of sight, while I draw the huge beasty ones. As I draw each one, I'm making it up as I go along. I don't plan it out beforehand, which is something I almost never do, but so far it's working!

Anyway, as you can probably tell, this is the water dragon. This picture is meant to express the nature of water and the creatures that inhabit it. Beautiful, tempting, indifferent and sometimes ruthless

P.S. For the benefit of those who know me well (especially you, Laura, since you've reminded me so many times that I'm crazy), yes, drawing scales by hand is a pain in the butt and yes, I KNOW I'm insane, but you have to admit the effect is worth it.
