Lesson 2 ~Free run~
After the message faded away from the air you had to wait what seemed an eternity to you, it were at least 10 minutes that you spend running around chasing the twinkling lines in the air until being out of breath, you were waiting lying down in the floor when the familiar tremble came in.

-Finally! –You shouted, the room of the animus vanished and became the vivid landscape of the countryside, you were back, your mates already in formation waiting for you to join, Ezio was in there as well waiting for you to come along.

-I’m happy to see all the improvement you have made. –He looked at you specifically as his words escaped from his mouth, his lips curving into a gentle smile. –Now that you have mastered how to reach your target being unseen, you need to learn how to do it in movement. –His gentle expression faded as he turned to look the other novices, he was giving you a special treatment, an internal screaming echoed in every corner of your body, a little screech escaped your lips for a second but thank god Ezio was far enough to not hear it. –We will start with something simple… -He started to say and walked towards one of the entrances to the camp. –I will be your target, catch me and you will be free for the rest of the day.–That affirmation resulted very attractive to you, maybe if you ended this right away you would be able to pass the rest of the day with him and maybe you would receive more of his special treatment, that was all the motivation you needed to put you on a good mood.

His hand motioned slowly upwards dragging inevitably your attention to it, distracting all of you and before you could even realize it he had took off, he was running meters ahead of you, first thought that crossed your mind was to go straight after him but apparently your “mates” have done it already, with all the energy and strength you had you started to move forward, it was matter of seconds before you had passed the houses around the training camp proceeding now to the open land, Ezio had the advantage for far too much, it was a little unfair but one of the NPC’s managed to get close enough to tackle him, her body flew through the air but landed miserably on the ground, his head turned over to see if she was alright and caught a glimpse of how far behind you actually were. He slowed gradually his pace until fully stop, the rest of you kept running until catching up with him, he looked flawless meanwhile you were a complete sweaty mess, the robes didn’t helped to much on transpiration, you could feel them wet against your skin and that wasn’t nice at all.

-I suppose I am not the best target to begin with. –There was no sign of distress or fatigue in his voice, not even a little panting or heavy breathing, he was just fresh… unlike you and the NPC’s that were fighting for the air around you. –Let’s start with some simple tasks, follow me. –He walked in a fast pace towards the city in the distance, all of you following him close, the only things that distracted you from the unbearable fatigue was seeing your mates tripping and pushing each other, you started to wonder if you could see any bugs in here, just like when you kill a guard and it’s body starts to stretch weirdly or it does some funny acrobatic movements postmortem or even if you could catch one yourself, the daydreaming made the walk seem shorter than it actually was.–First let me see how good you are at running… -Ezio had lead you to the very centre of the district, you could see the top of the pantheon from above of the houses and it was just beautiful. –Go and attack those guards then escape from them and walk unnoticed until reach Isola Tiberina. –He pointed at some guards that were nearby, just thinking of being chased around the streets and had to climb houses and push people made you groan in agony, you could barely stand and now this, fuck all this goddamn exercise.–You go first bella, surprise me – The hand of Ezio patting tenderly your shoulder made you pop out of your bubble of laziness, he looked at you from under his hood locking eyes for a second before vanishing, it was only you now.

A sigh escaped your lips, he was expecting something big from you, people always expecting things from you made you overstressed, something to impress him would be finishing the task right away so the only way possible was cheating, Ezio didn’t say nothing about cheating so you weren’t disobeying him therefore it would be valid to do it even though a little voice in your head was scolding you, like always, you decided to ignore it and go with it, your head moved in every direction just to check that nobody important was around, the feeling of guilt was getting stronger but once you made a decision there is no turn back, so with all the time in the world you faced the way round and walked in the opposite direction of the guards, the guilt apparently started to had some physical consequences due that the further you walked the heavier you got, it was like walking while carrying a horse or a cow or the fat guy in your class, you tried with the medicine but not even the liquid could make the sensation disappear, you started to thought that maybe it was affecting you being in here but then you came to realize that there was no logical explanation for this, the moment came when you took a step and collapsed in the floor due to the pressure of the invisible charge not much time passed before you fainted and appeared again inside the waiting room of the animus.

-What… -You were about to swore but then it occurred to you. –Did I just get desynchronized? –You closed your eyes slowly while doing a pined grin, people was right when they say that nothing good comes from cheating, a slightly tremble make you open your eyes again and just like magic, you were back where you started. –Goddamn it. –You sighed and rolled your eyes in frustration. –Well fuck it. –you started to walk toward the guards and stared at one of them, as expected they noticed you and started to push you and say those pre-programmed lines, you stood there hearing them and finally decided to kick in between the guards legs he bend for a second but you didn’t wait to see him incorporate again, you were already running for your life with them almost in your back, after running through the streets and tripping many times with all the “people” around decided go into the next level, you weren’t really skilled enough to climb the houses but you gave it a shot, it was your only chance, you ran and remembered how Ezio climbed, you made as if you were about to walk in the wall and grabbed the nearest thing to keep yourself up, then very slowly and painfully you started to put feet and hands in the edges of the windows and whatever looked firm enough to hold, it was very hard to tell if the guards were still chasing you or not, there were no indicators to tell you when it was safe or not so you only prayed for them to had given up already.

-You have no right to be up here! –A guard started to shout you from the other side of the roof, you didn’t have nothing to attack him and he had a crossbow so you decided for the first time since you played Assassin’s creed obey him and get out of the roof but to the next one, it was easier to jump from roof to roof than running in the streets, you keep your pace enjoying the fresh air of the now early night, looking for a path to go back and see Ezio something attracted your attention, one of the assassins tower was just a few roofs away and on the top of it a Synchronization point, you always have wondered how would feel doing the leap of faith, for security reasons in real life you have never tried it but in this moment you weren’t in real life, so even if you didn’t hit the hay and die, you would only be sent back to the waiting room of the animus.

-Meh, why the hell not! –You spoke to yourself and started to climb the Ex-Borgia towers, climbing got easier every time you tried it just like some kind of default reflex, honestly if all this training got stuck in you and you could use it in real life it would be pretty handy.

When you were up you stopped for a second and admired the quality of graphics of the game, every house and every person was extremely detailed, how did they manage to even sell a game almost per year? –Ok… Ok… OK… everything is ok… -You panted and looked at the sky to relax yourself, vertigo could be a real bitch sometimes, now the problem was going doing by leaping or turning around and use the stairs.

-What are you doing (Y/N)? –Ezio’s voice called you from behind making you jump and grip even harder the piece of wood, another heart-attack literally he could have been the death of you.

-Shit… don’t do that! –You hissed as you closed your eyes for a second. –I’m just enjoying the view… what brings you here mentor? –You said trying to sound cool but Ezio noticed your tensed body.

-You were delaying too much, I got worried… -You could feel how those big hands of his gripped your waist gently and grabbed you backwards to the safety of the cabin, helping a damsel in distress, what a charm.

-Please I just want to eat! –the man cried out, certain pity invaded your heart, even though this was just a game there were people that actually had to stole money to eat, unfortunately for him, your desire of impress your mentor was bigger than your kind heart right now, your feet moved agile from one roof to another, never losing sight of the man, whom wasn’t very far ahead from you, it was enough with one mistake from him to give you the chance and attack you only had to wait for it and thankfully it wasn’t a long wait, the man miss calculated one jump and almost fell down he managed to hold on to the edges of a house, when he managed to lift himself up, you were already waiting for him with a big pleased smirk. –Please don’t kill me! –The man cried out and kneeled down in front of you, his hands lifted in surrender covering his face, you had a very satisfied smile on your face when you took the bag of florins that man had on his waist, the others had to head in different direction to search for their targets, but you, you right now were the happiest girl, you had achieved stopping a thieve and kept the money, how cool was that? Now the only thing to do was going back to meet your mentor in the designed spot and when you arrived a big, handsome and proud assassin was waiting for you.

-bene… (Y/N) Mi hai sorpreso (Well… You have surprised me) –You didn’t know exactly what that meant but by his tone you could tell it was something good. –I didn’t expect you to finish this soon. –If it wasn’t because he is Ezio you would have bitch-slapped him for saying that but on the other hand you were happy to be praised by him, it felt good being recognized for doing something right after a long time, usually you weren’t very greeted for the things you did correctly everything always focused on your bad grades or that you fought again with your math teacher, it felt good to be recognized for someone important to you.

-Thank you Ezio… -You face palmed yourself mentally, it wasn’t a very good idea to call him by his name especially if you were a novice. –Sorry I… -You started to apologize but he raised his hand to stop you.

-Now that you have practiced enough it’s time to put you all in a real challenge… -You felt chills in all your body when he said this. –Try to catch me before I can make it to the camp. –There was pretty margin to at least manage to get behind him during the ride so you weren’t very worried, he lifted his hand again just like the last time but now you weren’t going to fall for it, you were sure that if you took those milliseconds maybe you would be close enough to catch him but his level of speed was inhuman, he moved just like lightning, the material of his robes slided so fast between your fingertips that it burned, you weren’t expecting to catch him but at least you wanted to be the closest one so you run as if the devil himself chased you, this time you did not bother on seeing your opponents, it was only you and Ezio a spark within you busted into flames that feed your need for speed, a rush of adrenaline was overwhelming mercilessly your system making you go faster, it was like flying, you crossed all the district in seconds still behind him but now his silhouette didn’t seem so far, it was at your reach so close that you needed to touch him your actions were faster than your thoughts and you only noticed that you had tackled him when his arms embraced your small body pressing it against his, your heart was hammering but now the cause wasn’t clear, so many things crossed your mind in this moment but the one that remained was how would it be to feel his skin, would it be warm or cold, soft or rough, within seconds you both were again standing next to each other Ezio smiling happily at you but in that smile you could see not only happiness there was also some pride, he was proud of you.

-I wasn’t expecting less from you (Y/N) –just hearing those words was enough for you to be happy, he leaned and kissed your forehead pulling down your hood, at first he looked happy but then his eyes darkened with conflict, like he was suffering or just had been punched in the guts, you stared at him concerned but before you could do something, before you could reach his cheek he was gone, everything was gone, only whiteness surrounded you, you felt your heart sank, even if it was only a dream or a pre-programmed action, that expression he made was just too real, too human.

-Hey! Why? Why you always do this?! Is not fair! –You shouted at the nothing moving around waiting for something that would never appear or for someone that would never come.

-Thank you sherlock… -You mocked at the flying letters as you rolled your eyes, it made you so angry all this sudden interventions, never letting you do something.

“Special memory unlocked”

-Memory? –You frowned and stared at the air when a sudden tremble tossed you onto the floor, this one was stronger than the usual ones, before your eyes you appreciated how the silver-white atmosphere was replaced by an orange-red one, you thought that maybe the animus broke down but it wasn’t until seeing Ezio that you kind of get what everything was about, he was standing in front of you, well at least an spectrum of him, his appearance was similar to the room, only lines defined him his robes and features but there were no detailed colors, you tried to reach him but he took a step back, you tried again, two steps backs, you gave step and he ran off, instinctively you followed, he changed directions, right, right, left, straight, left again, it was pointless trying to reach him but you couldn’t stop, it went on for minutes until everything went black.
