From a young age you understood you were nothing more than a tool for your father to gain reputation inside the Templar society, after all the first born is always known as the pride of the family but for your father you hadn’t been more than a biological failure, why?, because for the caprice of destiny, you had been born a girl, indeed, for him you were the biggest disgrace it could have ever happened to him, it sounded harsh but it was the truth that haunted you ever since you could remember. Nonetheless this little misfortune didn’t stop your father’s ambition: from being dressed, to treated and educated as a man you lived, without ever knowing the warmth of a father, the love, the care or any affection of some sort, he was only your father by name, and he made understood your mother pretty well the same circumstances due that, not even she dared to put a single finger on your skin. Of course being raised like that

Growing with a constant emptiness that only grew bigger as years passed by, slowly becoming a thing to admire up high on a shelf, because liked it or not, you were pretty good at what your father put you up to, your name was slowly echoing from rite to rite both here in London and other European countries, no one ever noticing your nature, it was a very spotless act, it was perfect. You were your family’s prodigy, not just in politics and history but in battle too, being a very skilled swordsman and gunslinger, you had everything that was required to be a very much respected Templar and with the time become a Grandmaster and of course that was the main goal for both you and your father.

The time came for you to be welcomed into a rite, the tactic you had spoken with your father was to enter the barely new consolidated American Rite, in which, thanks to your father influences your initiation was more than reassured, the hard part would be escalate from the bottom to the top, but you were very confident of yourself and had in mind that the end will always justify the meanings, you were ready to do whatever it was necessary to become The next Templar Grandmaster of the American rite. The only thing that would be standing on your way would be the actual grandmaster, Haytham Kenway, a very skilled man and Templar in all the extension of the word, he was in the mouths of everyone, since he showed a natural talent for the job from a very early age, just like you did but he was a man, born and raised, he was everything and more that you could ever be, and just the thought of that made your blood burn with rage inside your body, whatever he wanted he would have it, such an unfair status.

From London to New York you travelled, first embarking on Boston’s principal seaport where a member of the rite, that was recently welcomed, would be waiting for you and travel by land until arrive to the Templar headquarters in New York. You were not able to see the grandmaster until your initiation that night, quite impolite for an English man, but you guessed it was only protocol to demonstrate his position above everyone else.

-Do you swear to uphold the principles of our order and all that for which we stand? – in a room only lightened up by a few candles on a table and barely open curtains that let in dim moonlight rays, a man spoke from the shadows at the other side of the table, his voice deep and neat, the other 5 members standing at each side of the table, 2 on the left, 3 on the right.

-I do. -  You answered with no hesitation, your voice obviously forced to sound deeper that it really was, an intense gaze piercing through the darkness right on your direction, a slight shiver went down your spine and made you remove on your feet.

-And never to share our secrets nor divulge the true nature of our work? –he continued without moving from his place nor moving his gaze from you, it was making you a little nervous to be honest, the fact that you couldn’t see him only made you feel like a wounded animal about to be devoured by its predator, such a disgusting feeling.

-I do. - You answered once again quickly and sharply, conviction was your voice.

-And to do so from now until death – whatever the cost? – you heard the wood creak under his step as he drew closer but still being careful enough to not show himself, even though you already knew who he was his appearance remained a mystery.

-I do. – Once again you answered and noticed how everyone didn’t even blink, eyes were completely on you, maybe judging, maybe approving or disapproving you didn’t even know or cared, the only approval you needed was from the Grandmaster’s himself, no one else.

-Then we welcome you into our fold, Brother. –He spoke as he finally revealed himself into the light, polished factions decorated his face, perfect Greek nose, eyes kind and sharp, masculine lips and a pointed chin, fine taste in his clothing that swirled in between an English sailor and high class man adding an extra touch of superiority with a hat that covered his delightful long black hair tied up with a red ribbon, just charming to the view, a gentleman with no doubt. –You are now a Templar, harbinger of a New World. –He continued without breaking eye contact with you, as if he was analyzing your whole being from the inside out, in that moment you could feel how blood was pumping straight to your cheeks, you prayed for it not to show over your (S/C) skin. – May the father of understanding guide us. –Those were his last words and while everyone on the room repeated after him you could swear a little smile formed on his lips before turning away leaving you thinking, did he noticed? Could he know? Impossible, you had mastered from your way of speaking to your manners, your dressing code, everything, there was no way. A pinch of doubt was settling on your mind, this man just with a look and a facial expression made your world completely turn upside down, you had never felt so defenseless in your entire life, he actually made you for a moment feel something.

Heading back to your room on the inn that worked as a façade for the headquarters, you noticed as you were climbing the stairs that the other Templars were heading for the front door but the Grandmaster stopped right on the threshold.

-Haytham, would you join us for a drink tonight? –That one Templar, Shay was it? Was the only one that you could see was allowed to call the master by his name, they seemed close even though he just joined them. You kept walking up and turned to the right until reaching the door of your room but stopped before entering to hear the end of the conversation, just placing your hand on the handle to open at any moment.

-Perhaps another time. –His voice echoed around the empty place and then a door shutting close, you knew that was your cue to enter your room and so you did, trying not to think in the fact that both of you were the only persons in the whole building.

The room was fairly humble, wooden floor of acacia judging by the ethereal scent in the air, an exquisite red carpet on the floor an red curtains on each of the two windows that were half open in the opposite wall, a dressing table on the right wall with a mirror big enough to admire half of your body and next to it the closet for your gabardines and suits that were already settled in place and finally at the other side of the room a king sized bed with ornaments on top of it going from gold to red to wood again; the color of the walls were of an old white but decently decorated with some paintings of the renaissance. You got closer to the dressing table and lighted up the candles to have some light aside the pale moonlight that strained from the windows. Loosening the button of your formal black and red Templar tunic and tossing it onto the bed you were about to fully undress yourself when from below the door, in between that little space that exists from the floor and such you could see a shadow creeping inside your room making you turn stone cold, it could only be one person.

-I know you are there mister (Y/L/N), there is no need to hide yourself. -His voice pierced right through the wooden material shaking your whole body until your very core. –Open the door or I will see myself forced to do so. –He even knew how to make a threat sound like a cordial invitation to a ball from the host himself, you only sighed and put yourself together before walking and opening the gate. –Much better. –He answered with a cocky tone that turned into a smile while looking down at you, he was by far maybe 1 or 2 inches taller than you. He made his way into your personal chambers as if it was his own, walking right next to the bed and grabbing the tunic you just took off just to feel the texture, you closed the door and gave a few steps forward staying away enough in case he tried to attack.

-What brings you here Grandmaster, I thought you might go out with the others for a drink. –You tried to ease the inconsistent feeling of tension between you two, a small chuckle was heard.

-And you very well know I politely declined –Your eyes opened for a moment and your face changed into a tense line, after giving a quick look at the surroundings his eyes landed on you like arrows on their target. -You should not hear the conversations from your superiors, not even the most trivial ones. –That silky voice changed for a more severe and raspy one, he had even noticed that, such a small thing, you froze in the act not knowing how to react, your mouth slightly open. –Aside from that, there is something more you are hiding from me. – He stopped and tilted his head to the right in a very inquisitive way.

-Sorry sir. But I don’t quite understand what you are asking. – you tried to divert the question in the best way possible but there was no use, you were so intimidated your head was blank, you could die right here, just like that and no one would ask questions, not even your father.

-Don’t try to play with me child… -He walked towards you, predatory, ready to attack. –Tell me who you really are. –He shook his right hand and a hidden blade appeared swiftly, every step he took in your direction you took one in the opposite way until bumping with your back onto the wall completely terrified, he cornered you, one hand on the wall and the blade on your neck, your breathing became heavier and body shaking gave away your fearful state, after looking at the blade for a second your eyes met his and noticed a dark spark behind them, he was enjoying this. With a sudden move his blade cut through your white long sleeved shirt in a vertical way showing the skin below and with it the bandages that pressed your breasts as tight as possible to your chest, in a blink you pushed yourself away from his grip arms covering your exposed figure facing forward and bent over turning only your head to give him a death stare that merely made him sigh.

-You really believed I wouldn’t notice? -He chuckled again and it started to get irritating. -the way you speak forcefully and the way you stand unconsciously, you need more skill if you really want to fool me miss… -He made a pause by shaking his arm folding again the hidden blade and looking at you expectantly, expression easing up as well as posture.

-(Y/N)… (Y/N) (Y/L/N)…. –You answered and composed yourself with the little dignity that was still on you coughing a little to undo the knot that formed in your throat.

-Ambiguos name, clever. -He assented, you could feel his condescending voice, again looking down at you, this time figuratively. -Well at least your last name is true. –He sighed and walked over to you again, it was like playing a game of cat and mouse, roles very much clear, it pissed you off. –I won’t spread your little secret, I understand that in this world it is hard for women to be noticed and taken seriously. –taking you by the shoulders and turning you to face him, his grip firm but not bold, warm and tender, it was strange to have such an intimate contact when you have just met him a few moments ago but he didn't even minded it, typical of a ladies man. –I admire your conviction and I respect it not just as a man, but as a Templar too. – now sliding his hands carefully he took the fabric and crossed it over your chest with so much care you could feel your heart miss a beat, you couldn't even dared to look at his eyes, he was basically eating you alive you could feel them looking everywhere but your face, it was an absorbing experience. –Don’t. Lose it. -he grabbed one of your hands, his raspy masculine hands cupped yours easily and put them on your chest to keep the fabric in place before looking again into you and just like that without even saying goodbye, The Grandmaster Kenway not only left you wordless but also breathless, your heart beating harder than ever, you had never had anyone that close to you, it was almost the first human contact you had ever had in your life that didn't end in someone dying, how could someone have such presence?

That night in your dreams a foreign but familiar entity visited you, filling your darkest deepest human desires, constant warmth and a strong scent of cologne that took you to forbidden places that not even you knew of.

Tell me, if it did not bother him that the reader is really a woman, then why go to such lengths to reveal it, if only in private and in such an invasive if not somewhat threatening and violent way?

Well I believed that Haytham wouldn't get fooled easily by a facade like that, of course according to the plot you practically grew up like a boy but I believe even in that way there still some traits that are for us women hard to hide, maybe the others also noticed but didn't dare to say anything, most of them lack the confidence to point out things, but I believe Haytham is not that type of man because he in the games is never portrayed like that, based in the characters I would say Haytham and Shay were the only ones that did knew there was something off with the reader in my opinion, now Haytham doesn't also seem the type of guy to make a fuzz about something, make it unnecessarily public would be a problem for him and the rite, what if he had got it wrong? What the consequences could be? Those are the kind of thoughts he might had in that moment so instead of just accusing you publicly he decided to get the answers on his own, private where he can get all the information he needs to take action by good or bad means and since you resisted a little he had to use some pressure on you to break your mind a little. That is at least what I think of the characters, sorry if it wasn't of your liking babe but still thanks for the comment really ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was curious as to the character motivation and was not trying to suggest a personal judgement of like or dislike.

The behavior did catch me a little by surprise after reading Assasin's Creed Forsaken, which really gives you an in depth look at Haytham's thought processes behind his actions. I am familiar with the in game story line on him. However, I am going to review the cut scenes again in order to see what you are seeing.

Of course this is my idea of how he would react, I will reread forsaken too, it's been a while since I wrote something about Haytham so maybe I'm just missing some in-character behavior, thanks for the comment babe really ❤️❤️❤️
