I had a brush with a really similar grainy outcome to what you see but then I also used a filter. Sadly I can't remember which. It's been a long time since I made this picture! I think it was photoshop Filter Gallery's FrescoΒ but I'm not sure. The best thing would be to experiment a lot! XP
