Eirwen led the young horse around the outside arena. Cloud seemed almost asleep as she ran beside her handler. Eirwen never took her eye of the mare watching her movement and grace. Gently she pulled her into center line and asked the make to stand. An almost perfect square halt, neck and head extended beautifully. But still Eirwen was not happy.

Mara watched from the railing. “I think she is ready for her first competition.” Mara commented softly. To which Eirwen responded with irritation.
“She is lacking that Arabian fire though. Didn’t you see, she was almost asleep!”
“She has been like that since she was a foal; I can only say she gained her mothers kind heart. Maybe some healthy competition will do her well.”

As the ladies had spoken Cloud had moved closer to Eirwen and now blew out her breath into her hair. Eirwen turned to the filly still slightly irritated, but mostly filled with love. She really was just too adorable, and the fact that she was so easy to handle just made her all that more special in Eirwen’s eyes.
