He'd been Hayner's first friend; man, had that been a long time ago…
He'd actually been the first friend Hayner had been allowed to have on a sleepover. After that, it had become a regular occurrence to find one or the other at the other's house overnight.

His first rival – that had led to some… interesting 'accidents', like that time with the bowl of jelly and a certain someone's shoes…

His first enemy… The thought of the time of that transition always made Hayner's heart ache. He hadn't understood at all why his former best friend now appeared to hate him and want to grind his face in the dust. He'd actually cried a few times over that one, before deciding that if hatred was what Seifer wanted, it was what he'd get.

His first kiss. Well, admittedly it had been half an accident, very sloppy, unpractised and embarrassed, with both of them trying to ignore the other for the rest of the evening.
   Teenage girls were the one thing they had both agreed on that night: they were too giggly and annoying for them. Even Olette and Fuu, when surrounded by a gaggle of them, quickly became mildly unbearable. And Hayner had endured being given a makeover by Olette once with remarkable patience, so that was saying a lot.

   He'd also been his first roommate. On a residential trip, admittedly, but still. That week was a firm reminder to Hayner of why one should never, ever, share a room with someone who has a fondness for doodling on one's face when one is asleep.
… There had also been the morning when Hayner had woken up to find himself in Seifer's bed, cuddled up together like kittens. Sleepwalking was a bitch on school trips.

   This must not, of course, leave out the time when Seifer even managed to be his first lapdance. Yeah, as they had grown up, the once-innocent dares that had had them kissing each other had also matured. And Hayner had been so turned on that he thought he might die of embarrassment had anyone noticed before he could make a surreptitious trip to the bathroom.

   It was then that he realised he had a bit of a crush on Seifer – his first crush on a boy.

   After about a year, he'd realised that the supposed crush wasn't going to go away, and with great reluctance, came clean with himself and admitted that his first love was none other than Seifer Almasy. Well, it fit. The bastard had always been so much better at everything, and now he was in love with him. Great.

   And then… Last night… Well, Hayner was almost certain it had been Seifer. His first one night stand, first time and first time waking up alone and finding it so painful he could hardly think past the heartache.

   He sighed, now sitting and nursing a cup of coffee on a bench in the cold morning air, the ache in his backside a constant reminder of just what had occurred last night. He just wished he could remember more of it than he could – to lose one's virginity to one's unrequited love and to not remember the entire experience was… He screwed his eyes tightly shut with a hiss. It was no use pondering this. What was done was done, and it hurt that he hadn't even been considered worth staying for in the morning.
   He huddled miserably into his long scarf and thick coat, cold hands tightening around the coffee cup in a vain attempt to find warmth.
   A pair of hands settled on his shoulders from behind before strong arms drew him into a hug that he hadn't expected, a pair of now-familiar lips pressing to his ear and murmuring,
"Hey Chickenwuss…"
