Description
It had been a few weeks since you had run into the vampire – and the angel Gabriel. For a while, you were really afraid of going out by yourself for a while, but everything was normal, and so you gradually relaxed. The bakery thrived as the season turned toward summer, and you kept an eye out for the blonde Archangel, but there was no sign of him.

You were disappointed by that.

You set up a tray of chocolate chip cookies and grabbed a pastry bag to frost them. Another chocolate chip cookie topped the frosting. Carefully, you transferred them from the counter to the glass display case behind a sign reading “Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich”. The bakery was not yet open, and you were finishing your daily production of getting everything ready. A beep from the kitchen caught your attention and you went to retrieve the brownies from the oven.

As you stepped through the door, there was a sound almost like the flap of a birds wings and you hesitated, frowning. If there was a bird in the kitchen, it would be a major health code violation. You peered around the top of your industrial sized fridge, and into the corners of the room.

“Looking for something?” an amused voice piped up from behind you.
You jumped and spun to face the voice. Gabriel leaned against the wall, his hands tucked into his pockets, smiling at you.

“How did you…?” you asked.

“Being an angel has its perks,” he grinned.

“What are you doing here?” you asked. You remembered your brownies, and hurried over to the oven to take them out before they burned.

“I told you I’d see you around, or did you forget?” He strolled over and eyed your brownies with interest.

“Yeah, but it’s been weeks, and I didn’t expect to see you in my kitchen,” you answered. Gabriel reached toward the brownies and you swatted his hand away. He fixed you with an exaggerated pout. “Why now?” You looked up at him and hesitated. He was standing very close beside you.

Gabriel shrugged casually. “I had some things to take care of, didn’t want to bring that kind of stuff around here.”

“Around here?” you echoed.

His whisky colored eyes met yours. “Around you.”

You bit your lip, lost for a moment in that gaze. “Um, it wasn’t anything really bad, was it?”

“Nah, don’t worry about it. Nothing I can’t handle,” he grinned broadly.
You mentally shook yourself, and started cutting the brownies into squares to take them out into the main room. Gabriel reached out and snatched one off the trey. You frowned at him, but his only response was to smirk broadly and wiggle his eyebrows as he took a bite. You blushed a little.

Gabriel leaned back against the counter, still munching on his brownie. “So, you like owning a bakery?”

“Small talk?” You teased him. “I like sweet things.”

He grinned. “So do I.”

“I guess I owe you for saving my life that night,” you said slowly.

“Don’t worry, kiddo, there’s no need for that. Although I do love your cupcakes.”

You laughed. “You can have as many as you want.” Tossing the brownie pan into the nearby sink, you pulled a bowl of cookie dough from the fridge. You grabbed an ice cream scoop from a drawer nearby and began dishing up the cookies.

Gabriel looked at you for a long moment, something unreadable in his honey colored eyes. “Sooo, what if I wanted something else?”

You paused, looking up at him curiously. “Like what?”

Without a word, Gabriel leaned down and pressed his lips to yours warmly. You dropped the ice cream scoop. His fingers curled around the back of your neck, his thumb stroking your cheek, and he tipped your head back to deepen the kiss. You moaned softly and kissed him back. He pulled back and gave you a broad smirk.

“I told you I like sweet things,” he murmured, stroking his thumb down your cheek.
