Hours after the massacre had begun and the sun had drifted beneath the burning horizon, Diantha’s unsteady legs trod one after the other toward… somewhere. Anywhere. To say she escaped with her life did little service. She would be lucky to make it with all of her wounds, especially the deep gash from an unlucky kick against her abdomen.

The pain was so sharp, her mind had become dull. Eerie silence befell what was once her home. Diantha knew not the fates of her family, her brother, nor her friends.

What a great cruelty it was to survive this day.
