Description
Well, throw this one into the 'terrible backround' pile.Euch. The grass took forever and the end result? It looks like macaroni and cheese. With a side salad.
The tree barely even looks like a tree and the highlights are completley unnatural and look like shiny yellow worms.
And that stupid seizure-inducing rainbow sunset takes all the attention away from the Meowth.
At least the Meowth isn't too terribly dreadful, unlike the rest of this picture. But his eyes are wierdly shaped and just...wierd...
Ugh.
And yet, this picture somehow made into into my 'Favorite Deviation' box
By the way, this was my half of the art trade with . He just wanted a simple, cute, funny Meowth, and I give him...this
Well ~FieryWithin I hope you like it anyways.
And I hope you don't mind that I added this in with my 100 Theme Challenge.
(I don't even know if it's deserving of the title innocence anymore...)
Critique and critisism are appreciated ^^

. . . . Your background isn't as bad as you portray it!! I actually like the way the grass came out, good job. The tree looks a little funky but I can still tell that it is a tree, which is good, and it looks waaay better than any tree that I could ever draw. Love the way you made the light hit Meowth and the three leaves, it looks so right. The splash of color in the background does draw the eyes away from Meowth a little but it looks alright. I like the effect that it gives the picture. ^^ Meowth looks cute, not one of my favorite Pokemon, but hey once again you made me coo at it. Still, my favorite thing about this drawing is the grass, no matter how much you hate it. n_n

Omg, this is mind-blowingly beautiful ... !
I can just tell how much you truly put your heart in here, and I feel so honored, thank you so much for being so applicated, you've left me totally speechless ...
And you've put the barr very high, there is such beauty in this drawing, I will have to do more than my very best to hope to reach that level
Let's come to the drawing :
First of all, this has to be the cutest Meowth I've ever seen, hands down ... I love the way you drew him, his expression is so sweet, I'm totally loving its cute big ears, and the idea of this ladybird on its muzzle (is that the right word ? ) just perfectly fits the very concept of a kind of childish innocence here : because that's exactly what this Meowth looks like, an innocent child discovering the world and marveling at its wonders, you got this to look absolutely right ... !
Also I love how you made him look a bit awkward through his pose too : this reflects so well the way a child could behave, not exactly knowing what to do with its paws, it just adds brilliantly to the overall sweetness of the scene !
Now, the background ... I can't seem to find the appropriate word to tell you how much I love it, it's so wonderful, this beautifully colored sunset just makes me dreamy ... ! And there is such harmony between the colors of the whole scene, it's just incredible ...
The falling leaves, I can only agree with our friend Cskia, who's so right as always in her deepful comments, these leaves truly bring some beautiful peace to the overall scene, this is yet another great detail... !
If I am to make some criticism, because I guess you'd like me to, the only thing I can say is the same as what dear Cskia said, that your Meowth has something of a Persian onto it ...
To be honest though, this is not much of criticism because I actually love him so much the way you drew him that I would be quite disappointed if you'd change him, I love how you personalized him, so actually it's not much of criticism ...
Well, thank you so so much and even more, merci beaucoup, c'est vraiment magnifique ... ! and trust me, it has nothing to do with the fact that this was for me (well little also, but not mostly this), more because it's just astonishingly beautiful ...

I'm very very glad you like it actually, and thank you so much for such the meaningful comment ^^

Oh dear, my friend, you have no idea how wonderfully delightful this little Meowth is. I completely adore that tree. You may not have noticed how realistic the tree looks to a person like me, because I can't draw trees. (you may have noticed that already, all my pictures lack trees.) All those 'shiny yellow worms' are brilliant highlights, and the shadows... it looks so perfect!!! Goodness gracious, firefox, you are a little harsh on yourself today.
Meowth next: It is a very cute Meowth, although I must say, and I'm sorry for saying this, that the shape of a Meowth looks more like Persian than Meowth. Meowth's head is proportionately larger than Persian's head when compared to the rest of the body. Nothing wrong with an individualized itnerpretation, of course!--because it is an adorable kitty here and the highlight for the fur is dazzling, as well as the silkiness of the body.
I've always had this thing with sunset/sunrise, and the rainbow in the background is gorgeous. Just the colors make it wonderful, making it look awesome, except that I might point out that the tranzition between pink to maroonish-purple was a tidbit darker than would be natural. I would suggest getting rid of the maroon/mahogany/something-like-that, to make a perfect sunset.
The concept of the dropping leaves is awesome, bringing a beautiful, calm sense into this picture. I'm not sure if 'Innocence' is the right word, because it seems to refer to the concept of 'Childhood' instead...
I've offered more criticism than I usually include already, but I hope you can accept a few more. The grass, you say it looks like 'macaroni and cheese'. I must say, you are quite demanding of yourself, and that is a good thing if you look forward to improving. I'm sorry if I say that i agree with you on that phrasing, although not quite exactly, because it doesn't have much of a side salad.
Let's talk about the grass. I'm afraid I haven't much experience in drawing grass (mine looks fake, as seen in the Vulpix picture), so I can't be of the greatest help. But you see, dear firefox, the concept of highlighted grass is simple to put into words and hard to make reality. First, draw neon-green grass (or golden, if you are using the sunset as the illumination). Then, add a layer of darker green, let's say, yellow-green. Add it to the more 'unilluminated' side. Add green. And pine green. For even darker parts, consider violet, blue, even black. (It might end up a little 'fake': go over it with light brown and it'll look more 'natural', as in Tiger picture.)
I'm sorry for blabbering on and on, and please excuse me if I sounded a little extra-helpful (in a negative way). You see, firefox, this is a wonderful picture, and the owrds come rather naturally. Now that I'm going to send this message, I'll go and Fav it. ^^

This must be the longest comment I've ever seen in my life
Thank you so much for the advice! And you don't have to worry about offending me Sky! Critisize as much as you like, as long as it helps me improve ^^
I do agree with you on the Meowth/Persian. I realized that while I was watching the Pokemon:Sky Warrior movie, and I noticed how big Meowht's head was But it was too late, since I already started coloring.
For the sunset: I didn't use a different color between those two, I merley attempted to mix them together, and the result was a darker color then what I expected.
Thank you for the help on the grass! I would not have thought to start with the golden color, since I usually start with the shadows ^^'
