Description Chapter 7
Where: Spirit's house, Ponyville outskirts

"You like her don't you Fire Fall?" asks Spirit.

“Ugh, if I say yes will he shut up?” I ask Rainbow Dash. She shrugs. Figures. I turn on the table top radio, and hear the one song I needed to hear. A duet with Vinyl Scratch and Octavia. The song ends and DJ-PON3’s voice come on.

“Aaw yeah. That was Vinyl Scratch and Octavia singin’ ‘bout the Event. Now, my little ponies I have the news. Good and bad both. Good news is that our dear friend, Fire Fall, is doing well. Bad news is that it seems he’s joined the rebellion. Say it ain’t so buddy. Say it ain’t so. Hey, got a bit o’ gossip ‘bout Madam President. Seems she -” I turn off the radio, slip on my headset and contact Ocean.

“Hey, Ocean? Mind coming to get me for training today?” I ask. “I don’t think Spirit doesn’t like my joining you guys.” She laughs.

“Yes, of course. I’ll be right over,” she says. I’m just about to disconnect when the front slams shut.

Slam!

“What was that Fire Fall?” asks Ocean.

“Dunno, I’ll tell ya when you get here,” I tell her, disconnecting.

“What was that guys?” I ask.

“Mom! Dad! I’m home!” Okay, that was a mares voice. A cute one at that. Spirit looks worried.

“Who’s that? And why do you look worried, Spirit?” I ask.

“Uh, um TV?” Says Spirit.

“You don’t have a TV,” I say.

“Radio?” he tries.

“I turned off the radio,” I remind him.

“Uh, neigh -” he starts, then breaks off and scrambles out of the room.

“What was that about RD?” I ask Rainbow Dash. She sighs.

“He doesn’t want you two to meet,” she says, “and frankly, neither do I.”

“Who? And why?” I ask.

“Our daughter, Riverbed,” she says, “and because she’s a mare. And you’re a hormonal  teenager.” Ouch, wait, daughter?

“You guys have a kid?” I ask. “How old is she?”

“About twenty-three,” says Rainbow Dash.

“Look, I love Ocean. I mean it this time!” I tell her.

“Uh huh. Sure,” she says, rolling her eye. “You said that last time,” she adds.

“True, but how often can I say that with a straight face?” I ask. Then, with an honestly straight face, I repeat my statement, “I love Ocean. I truly do. I’d lay down my life for her.”

“Fin, I’ll talk to Spirit about letting you two meet,” sighs Rainbow Dash. Then looking behind me with a surprised look on her face she adds, “Oh, hello Captain!” What?! Shit! I spin around and see Ocean standing in the doorway, looking a little stunned.

“Ocean,” I start, before I could continue she asks me something I was half expecting.

“Is that true, Fire Fall?” she asks.

“Every word,” I reply. Before I can respond she tackles me and kisses me. On the lips. My eyes widen as I realize this and I kiss her back. When we finally break she lets me up and smiles.

“You don’t know how long I’ve waited for anypony to say that to me,” she says. She starts to cry. Uh oh, did I say something? Wait, anypony? I give her a napkin to wipe her eyes.

“I love you Fire Fall. I have since we first met back in Bucklyn. Is that how long you’ve loved me?” she asks, with puffy eyes. I nod and she hugs me so tightly I can barely breath. I make an effort and tell her so.

“Can’t … Breath … Loosen … Grip.” She does and I gasp. Again, nopony ever told her they love her?

“I know what you’re thinking,” she says, “You’re thinking, ‘So nopony ever told her they love her, or even that she’s pretty?’ Well, it’s true.” She sighs. “Most bucks are afraid of me.” She laughs. “I even tried mares but no luck. Nopony would love me. I got a lot of response from zebras, bucks and mares alike. But I’m not interested in zebras, lucky for you. I love you, Fire Fall. You make me feel wanted, even needed.” I hug her and rest my chin on her shoulder.

“If we’re gonna get any training in we should get going,” I say, breaking from the hug. She smiles that sort of smile that no hot-blooded buck can resist. Hell, I’ve fallen for it Goddesses know how many times.

“Oh, we’re training alright. Just not combat, or stealth, training,” she says in that voice only mares can pull off. I try to keep from looking, or acting, too excited. I fail. I squee and promptly facehoof in embarrassment. She laughs and we head to my room, walking so close together our coats are brushing. This is gonna be a fun training session. We pass Spirit on the way down the hall. He glances at us and sighs.

“Keep it down okay?” he says. Ocean and I laugh.

“No promises,” I say, “but I’ll try.” Yup, this is gonna be fun.
