Description
Large Deviation in both file and image size, full view at your own risk. This is an entry for 's contest.
In the contest you look through the list of magical girl names, pick one, then pick one of her four characters to transform into your rendition of that magical girl name. Plus you get complete creative freedom with your entry just as long as it looks like the character you picked in some way. How cool is that?!
The character I picked to transform into Alien Conjuress Angel was Guava simply because I wanted to do a picture that was dark and unknown yet beautiful and holy at the same time. Guava seems to have some self-esteem issues with her appearance since she has to wear an eye patch over one eye -if it's a bum eye or not is unknown to me. The only time she feels confident about herself is when she's in her magical girl form, overly confident in a sexy way in fact!
Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to transfer the feelings Guava has on the inside as a normal human into the outer appearance of this magical girl.
So what kind of magical girl is Alien Conjuress Angel?
Well I imagine she'd be one of those arcane chaotic neutral magical girls that all the other magical girls go to for help, but the only answers she gives are in the form of depressing riddles. So in the end Alien Conjuress Angel would have to show up to help save the day in all her super celestial might because nobody was smart enough to figure out the answer to the riddles.
Oh yeah, and she conjures aliens from that glowing hole in her chest; it's the only way to travel.
I really wanted to branch out from my usual style with this picture; I actually have a number of pictures that look surreal like this, but I've been too chicken to post them here on DA. So I guess this is a "coming out" picture?
Aside from all that deep crap I mentioned before a number of other things inspired me, including the song Wandering Star by Portishead and The Cthulhu Mythos by H. P. Lovecraft. In fact the script on this piece is a fan inspired version of Cthulhu runes and the text translates to the title and chorus of the song.
So yeah, I had a lot of fun with all the glowy stuff, and star stuff, and the three eyed squid stuff, and the dark creepy stuff. I've very happy with the finished piece.
------------------
Wandering Star
Please could you stay awhile to share my grief
For it's such a lovely day
To have to always feel this way
And the time that I will suffer less
Is when I never have to wake
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
... Those who have seen the needles eye, now tread
Like a husk, from which all that was, now has fled
And the masks, that the monsters wear
To feed, upon their prey
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
(Always) doubled up inside
Take awhile to shed my grief
(Always) doubled up inside
Taunted, cruel.... ...
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever

I absolutely love the star effect. It is gorgeous. So is the giant alien squid.
Everything about this is just so detailed, and sublimely done. IT's very different, very loose and flowing and gorgeous, regal. It makes me think.
The hair has to be my favourite part. and I love it that for once we have a thinner guava, instead of the voluptuous pirate princess. The outfit, and lack there of, is absolutely amazing. Guava's still the same old, magical girl or not. You took a completely different spin on it, and you've made me rethink my own entry. Instead of just the average pretty magical girl. . .
Best of luck!

Oh wow, thank you very much for the in depth feedback, I really appreciate the detailed comment. And I'm really glad you liked this piece, sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this though.
I had some trouble deciding on what kind of clothing to put Guava in. The more I leaned toward holy and other worldly the more clothing she seemed to lose! I just kept asking myself "What would a celestial being wear? Why would a celestial being even need to wear human clothing at all? How many humans would she run into anyway?". So, in the end, Guava got a see through garb and magical items like halo crowns and floating sutras thingies.
Overall though I'm very happy with how it came out and I had a lot of fun just playing around with different ideas. Best of luck to you in the contest as well, I look forward to seeing your entry!

wow - this is intense! i love the galaxy swirlyness and the alien greens! i like this different style from you - pushing the boundries is good!
i really like how you gave us an indepth background behind her and took a different spin, making her into one of those 'higher power' kind of magical girls... i can really imagine her as part of a Manga or anime series!
thanks so much for entering! and good luck!

Oh thank you, I'm glad you like it. I think we all have a pretty fair chance of winning something. There's two categories right? I've been away from my computer lately so I need to recheck the contest information.
Anyway, good luck on the contest yourself!
