Description
It's been awhile since I updated, I've decided to put my gallery move on hold so I could update with something new, just so, you know, you people don't think my limbs have fallen off or something.I've always had trouble with full body poses, especially movement, so I decided I'd pick a nice dancing pose to practice on. Surfing through Google I found a nice image of a ballet dancer, it really was wonderful, the a perfect mix of muscle, movement, and grace that I was hopping to work on. I think the hardest part for me turned out to be the neck and shoulders, the perspective was much trickier then it seemed. Once the image was done I was left with a faceless, nude sketch, it seemed too good to just leave on paper so I turned it into some gift art.
Malisa is a feline with a little nereid mixed into her blood, she's also the owner of the Blue Jewel over on Furcadia and Blue's new boss. She's a tame house cat, mild mannered and on the prudish side, however things have been changing for her; don't worry, Blue's corrupting her good.
Anyway, I decided that I'd have Malisa dancing on some water, but not just any ordinary water... Glowing water, because lighting and glow effects are teh shit, yo. And I say that because it'll make me seem cool. This gave me a chance to try out some water tutorials and filters in Photoshop, learned a few interesting things while playing around with some of the knobs and buttons. Heh, I said 'knobs'.
I'm rather happy with the way this turned out in the long run, Malisa's role player was very happy to finally have some art for the character's web page. Full view please, careful through, its a large image; sorry dial up users.

Wow, hun. You've out done yourself. It's a grear piece as everyone has said and I can really see you're improvement. I think you did a great job shaping the legs ( I always have issues with the legs) and making the pose look real and graceful. Beautiful piece.
Go you!

I'm glad, it means a lot to me to know you - and everyone else - think I've improved.
I have a hard time with legs as well, for some reason I have it set in my brain that legs should be shapely, and its not just legs, but hips and thighs too; nice and meaty, the kind that could kick a fella's teeth in. Its difficult when I have to work with a thin character, they become walking pears. xD
Thank you very much for the comment.

oh my goodness, this has got to be one of my favorite pictures from you. I've never seenyou do something of this calibur, the color scheme is great really helping to make the figure stand out without making it appear too bright. and the motion is so awsome! I'm really fond of that pose, i know how hard it is to convey motion in a still peice of art, but you pulled it off wonderfully.

Ooo, you really think so? That makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. x3 I had a lot of fun working with the lighing direction, normally I have the light pointing from above or from either one of the sides so having it come from below was really interesting change of pace.
Thank you very much.

I love the pose a lot and she's really pretty. I might check out this dream sometime. :3 The water effects look cool too.

Thank you, it was fun working with Malisa's character design. The dream is usually uploaded on the south east side of FurN near YHS, if you go in Blue will most likely be watching the bar or napping somewhere cozy.
Thank you for the comment.

Damn, that's some amazing shit, yo. And I've been looking for some nice water tutorials myself, so thankies for the links.
One thing though, her left foot looks like it's turned backwards. She must be flexible, huh?

Ah ha, you're right; ah well, something to remember for next time.
The last water tutorial at the end of the links - the one I had to cut down to just the main hosting site because DA was being a douche bag with its stupid auto-emoticons - was actually the most helpful; it pointed out some tips on how to add perspective to an image, I didn't even knew you had the option in Photoshop. Shows how much I need to learn.
Thank you very much for the comment.

Oh god...I can't stop laughing at that. I'm actually choking...
Anywho, thank you sooo much and you did a wonderful job capturing her. I'm giddy like a school girl heh. I'd start telling you all the little things I like about it but that would take a little time and a lot of text.

Hee, hee, 'absolute hotness corrupts absolutely'.
I'm very glad you're happy with this picture; Malisa was a treat to work with. Thank you very much!
