Probable spoilers for Wreck-It Ralph if you haven’t seen it yet, which you need to fix post-haste

OH MY GOD GUYS LET ME TALK ABOUT HOW AWESOME WRECK-IT RALPH IS. *flails hysterically* This is the only movie I've ever bought in HD on iTunes. And then I turned around and bought a hard copy. My devotion to WIR is kinda hardcore.

This meme is so different from the Hetalia one—I ship light in this fandom as opposed to Hetalia where I ship more or less fucking everyone and it's always getting updated.

And onto the ships!

My undying love and devotion to Ralph x Vanellope (Jawbreaker, though I favor Sugar Crush). They have beautiful onscreen chemistry, they've been through the fucking fire together—they get each other in a way no other character in the movie would.
I also give my undying love and devotion to Turbo x Felix (80s Boyfriends). It would start off a fairly decent, pretty solid relationship but when you add Turbo's downward spiral into madness and how Felix deals and then the 30 or so years separation (not to mention that beautiful jawdrop during the plot twist that is currently my Tumblr avatar), it's a very intoxicating mix that's impossible to back down from.

I toyed with the idea of Ralph x Felix at one point in the film, but ultimately decided it didn't suit me. Felix means well, but the fact that he's worked with Ralph every daily for 30 years—10,958 days, with anywhere from 15-50 plays a day for a grand total of 164,370 to 547,900 games—and still has to ask himself what Ralph says at the start of ever game really made me side-eye this ship. Felix, for being a good guy, is kind of a clueless twat.
Taffyta x Candlehead (Taffyhead) is one I see a lot and it's got a bit of a charm to it, so I'm kind of on the fence here.

Can't say Rancis x Vanellope has ever appealed to me. Rancis seems to stuck on himself to be able to have a proper relationship with Vanellope.
Here's the part where I get lynched by the fandom—I do not like Felix x Calhoun (Hero's Cuties). The romance subplot was shoehorned in, and the film could have survived without it. Not to mention the fact that, even though he's unaware of doing so, Felix is taking advantage of Calhoun's backstory. She lost her fiancé and is now on a godforsaken rock in the middle of fucking nowhere space—it literally has no name—trying to eradicate the things that ate her fiancé at the damn altar. She's vulnerable as hell, and Felix—again, subconsciously—plays on that, especially when he talks her into letting him follow her into Sugar Rush, and again when he plays on her military training to beat the shit out him in the NesQuick Sand. Again, for being a good guy in his game, Felix is a twat. I love him to pieces, but damn, son. That and I've seen WAY too many Hero's Cuties shippers slam Sugar Crush as "eww gross pedohpilia," when Vanellope's console's been plugged in for 15 years, but love the hell out of this and conveniently ignore that Calhoun's been plugged in a week. Yeah, I wee bit mad.

While I kinda like Sugar Crush/Jawbreaker, I also like Hero's Cuties, and I get where the pedo accusations are coming from. Regardless of how long the game's been plugged in, Vanellope is physically (and, at the time of the movie, mentally) a child, and will be so forever, while Ralph is forever a physical and mental adult. Even if you judge their mental maturity by how long the game's been plugged in, Vanellope is still (mentally) half Ralph's age, and underage to boot. Meanwhile, Calhoun was programmed with the mentality and physicality of a grown woman from the get-go, and can only get *more* mature the longer her game is plugged in, even if she is technically only a week old.

You can also judge a character's mental maturity by their actions-- for example, Vanellope faced her potential death with the unplugging of her console with more grace and maturity than most IRL adults would have. Not only that, but she has a solid grip on the world around her (acknowledging the severe injustices being dealt her by the other racers and understanding why, as opposed to a true child's logic of, for example, "They're just being bullies"). Furthermore, if Calhoun can grow and mature the longer her game is plugged in, it's not at all fair to say or imply that won't be the case with Vanellope. Finally, just because it's a ship doesn't mean that it has to have sexual activity. Shocking as this may seem to some people, you can ship a ship without wanting to see the characters fuck.

I get that, and again, I DO like the Vanellope/Ralph pairing. But even if the characters aren't sexually involved, a big part of romantic relationships (even in kid's movies) IS attraction, and that's where Vanellope's physical maturity becomes an issue. That said, sorry if I wasn't clear, but when I said that Calhoun can mature, I meant to imply that Vanellope could as well. My point is that they would mature from the "age" that they were programmed to be in the first place - so Calhoun would be ~30 and mature from there, and Vanellope would be ~7-9 and mature from there, so she would still be pretty young.

(My math was off earlier, btw. If Van matured the way I'm suggesting, she would be mentally in her 20s by the time of the movie. Which still seems a little off from the way she behaved, despite the fact that, you're right, she did seem pretty mature for her "age", not to mention precocious as all hell. Maybe child/preteen characters retain some of their childishness despite mental aging... hmm... must revise headcanon...)
