Hello, and Happy Holidays everybody
I know this pack was planned last week but I decided to release it around Christmas because I thought that would be the best time to release it. I hope you like the pack

Most of us come here to look for new visual styles and its intensely annoying when all we see are the same crappy Vista Conversion Packs!!!

You know, when you go to the Visual Styles section and you see a Vista Pack in it, you don't have to look at it, decide it's crappy, and complain about it. This has been everybody's problem. Just because people post it in the Visual Styles section, doesn't mean it's bad. What if it does contain Visual Styles?

This is actually a good idea given the proliferation of Vista Packs and there is a precedent for this:
The Vista visual styles were given their own area.
There are enough Vista Packs to warrant this and they are certainly not solely visual styles so they don't fit the Visual Style category.
At the end of the day, those who want Vista Packs will be able to go to one locale to find them and those who are solely interested in visual styles (myself among them) will have a locale to find those also.
An equitable solution for all.

I'm not sure who Martin is and I'm certainly not hovering over you. I am however, like many others here, quite tired of the myriad copycat Vista Packs that crop up every day and litter the landscape of the Visual Styles group.
A couple points:
1) Vista Packs are not Visual Styles
2) They belong in Miscellaneous, since they fit into that category a heck of a lot better than they do This One
3) If they were given their own group then those who are interested in them could go there and...
4) the Packs would be out of the hair of those of us who don't particularly care for them and are in this Visual Styles group for (you guessed it) Visual Styles
I think that's clear enough.

It's free but it also thrives on ordering the art so that folks can find what they're interested in easily.
I'm not saying that the Packs should be removed from deviantArt or not posted at all (unlike many others). I *am* saying that they should be put in a more appropriate area where those interested in them can find them easily and those who don't care for them and more importantly are interested in the REAL content of this area won't have to wade through them.
As one example, no one posts Windowblinds skins in the Visual styles group and I don't post my Desktop Sidebar skins here either although they are designed to be a component of a desktop.
Visual styles do not contain:
1) sounds
2) utilities to allow windows to flip
3) utilities to enhance the Start button
4) other add-on programs of any kind
They are msstyles and on occasion their accompanying fonts. That's it, that's all. if you're unwilling to accept this, try posting a Pack inthe Windowblinds group and see what happens.
That's pretty reasonable and not hard to understand, no?

WILL YOU TWO BE A LITTLE MORE MATURE IN THIS KIND OF CASE??!! I know you're trying to help and support me Tikiliki but in this case, you don't have to be rude (no offense). I am glad and happy that you support me, but I will not tolerate this kind of behavior on the comments area.
AS FOR YOU ROJ, I understand your previous posts dealing with the pack being posted in Visual Styles, but other people in the past have done it and you haven't complained about it to them! Why don't you give THEM a piece of your mind and not me? Other than that, I am free to do whatever I want.

If I complained to everyone who posted one of those darned Vista Packs, I'd never stop typing because there are so many. Look around you and see how many people post the same tired concept, often with the same add-in programs and each one proudly announces theirs as "unique". Heck, at one point over the last week, three Packs showed up in the same day. And people are not supposed to get tired of this?
I'm not singling you out specifically - my comments are addressed to ALL the Vista pack uploaders, wherever they are. I'm just going to take the time to cookie-cut and paste my comments into every single thread.
Bottom line:
They're not visual styles so they don't belong in this group any more than Windowblinds creations or Desktop Sidebar skins do. I'm not being unkind about this and I'm certainly not going to shoot my mouth off like some foul-mouthed immature 16 year old brat too uneducated to be able to get his point across without four letter words - that's not my style. I with reasonable politeness made a viable suggestion that has the potential to make most happy given the facts and the situation. THAT'S my style.
In any event, all rhetoric aside, I hope you have a Merry Christmas - this isn't the time of year to be arguing heatedly.

Wonder what Microsoft think about redistributing their work without copyright clearance and then Fishy Fish copyrighting it. And does he/she have copyright clearance for all the other programs he/she has included? Giving a "thank you" doesn't get one out of the copyright issue!
