Description
Hello, this is my XP MCE 2005 skin. Not that I have Windows XP MCE 2005, it got installed on my computer when I tried to install a Media Center Addon. I then noticed I had the Media Center Style skin and I found out that it worked! I wanted to post it on Deviantart for those of you that have XP Home/Pro and want the Royale look of Media Center Edition.So, enjoy

I tried out the Addon and it installed with absolutely no problems. But there was this registry entry it required me to change manually and I found out that, that part of the registry was protected so Media Center didn't work

No, the first thing I did was try to open Media Center, but it said that I needed Media Center Edition installed. It's something to do with that Registry thing.

I didn't. I tried to install a MCE 2005 Addon but it wouldn't work. So, it installed the Royale Skin on my computer and I decided to release it here so people without MCE 2005 can enjoy the ACTUAL Royale Skin adn Theme.

Uh, the link's down right now. I'm not joking. I have the link as a favorite but it's not working today. I need to make stuff for Wincert.net. I'm registered there. Like, maybe I can port Windows Sidebar right from Vista. It'll be hard to make an installer though. Actually, Il'l port one tonight. I hope that it can automatically install gadgets without a gadget installer.

Nope. It has nothing to do with that. I had the same error too, as i wanted to install Rollup 2, but it failed. BUT, i tried it again over Microsoft Update (all updates for MCE) and after that, everything worked fine

OK, but do I have to install Rollup 2 updates after I install the addon or can I install the updates ONLY via Microsoft Update?

I updated my MCE up to Pre-Rollup 2, the missing step was Rollup 2. On the setup from this, it said, that MCE is required. But, i get Rollup 2 over Windows Update and after that, it worked. And the laguage was changed as well, nice side effect

Exactly. Rollup 2 of the pack wasn't able to install, but the update over Microsoft Update worked and MCE works fine

Yay! That's nice to know. Well, I've uninstalled all my customization tools on my computer because of problems. But I plan to reinstall them again after I reinstall my Firewall.

Hey MaskedJudas, I reinstalled the MCE Addon, but WIndows Update didn't detect any upate for it, strange. What should I do? I still have the same problem. Also, during the installation, it said that one needed file wasn't found so it wasn't installed. But Media Center and everything else got installed. What's wrong?

Install all stuff without Rollup 2 & Extender stuff. You have to restart after each step, make sure in your system properities it Media Center Edition shown. And than, try MS Update again and again, there are more than 1 update for it, just search for the Media Center updates ^^

I think so, remember that you have to reboot after each single step. But, i think, that the Media Center is pretty useless without the fitting drivers =/

Yeah, Media Center is pretty useless, but it's a feature of Vista so I thought it might complete my desktop as soon as I get it working and install a skin for it. Also, Windows Plus may be fun to use.

Then how the heck AM I supposed to install the Addon???? Plus! is put into the Addon and it's not like I can select not to install it. So, how am I suppposed to get it working? I need to disable Windows File Protection to get it to install correctly.

There's Plus! shown, but guess what, it's not really in there. And Plus! isn't even complete in MCE, it's a waste of space, you need none of the functions. The only things you get is a entry that you have MCE, you got the Media Center itself, the theme, screensaver and services but not really Plus, i you can say, you get the good parts of MCE.

I'm getting sooo angry!!! I've disabled WFP, I've installed the Addon, and I looked on Windows Update for updates for MCE 2005. BUT NOTHING IS WORKING. MCE 2005 isn't even displayed in System Properties. I'm so mad! How the heck am I supposed to get this thing to work??!!!!

Ah, seems that you forget an very important thing! Wasn't there detailed instructions? If there aren't, the problem is clearly. Before you install anything, be sure to boot your PC from the Image, this will boot some BartPE stuff which change some registry keys and stuff, the PC will reboot after that, and THEN, begin with the single steps. Then should it work.

Err... you have to burn the stuff on the image on a CD and boot from it. Not with the normal XP CD.

Não, desculpe. It's ok qualquer maneira. Meu pai me iniciar no Windows PE com o seu disco de boot. Mudei o registro, reiniciado o meu computador, e tentando se conectar, mas ele disse: "O Windows Key era inválida para o MCE 2005" ou algo parecido. Oh bem, como você disse Windows Media Centre é bastante inútil. Pelo menos eu tenho o ícone e pode torná - la aparência tenho Media Center.
Posso dar - lhe o Windows Vista Media Center ícone se você quiser. Porém, não deve substituir o original ehshell.exe com o que eu poderia enviar para você (se você quiser isso). Basta colocá - lo em algum lugar que você nunca vá para voltar (ou não ir para a muito tempo) e colocar o Vista ehshell.exe lá e mudar o ícone. Ou você pode renomear o arquivo para, digamos MaskedJudas.exe ou algo. Em seguida, altere o Media Center ícone em seu desktop com o único em MaskedJudas.exe. Portanto, não posso dar a você, se você quiser.

Is my german not understandable? I can send you the Vista ehshell.exe for the Vista icon. Just don't replace the original ehshell.exe with the Vista version. I can email it to you if you want. Just tell me.

Well, i understand your english better ^^ I don't need Vista files, because the tool "VistaMizer" changed the theme and such, and i have Vista too, but currently not installed.

Well, i don't use the Media Center anyway so i don't know. If i want it, i could install Vista in a VM (or next week for dual boot with my new graphics card) and get it there or something ^^

Yeah, but it takes a while to install it on VMWare anyway. I tried it out and it toke 2 hours to install. Either that or it was my PC. Just let me send it to you. It's a lot easier.
