Well, in my adaption, Sigma gets cured from the maverick virus after the first rebellion. He then is forced to hunt down the other Mavericks while trying to redeem himself.
He later becomes the reason for an Invasion from Arcadia's neighbour Suriex ( Rockman X's version of the Emerald Spears) and takes part in the war.

Totally get the vibe of the virus having already transferred from Zero's lifeless corpse to Siggy through that one glowing evil eye and his demeanor walking back out. Very cool take on that scene!
