Description I love Spock and Uhura seperately but together? Not so much

Now you can show your non-support of this pairing. I own nothing except credit for making this monstrosity.

This is how I view Gwevin pairing since I'm a huge Bevin Shipper; that pairing (Gwevin) has to die right now!

Spock/Uhura is the only thing I didn't like about this movie. If it didn't exist it wold all have been perfect.

What really annoys me is that Kirk and Spock, friends or what, had a monogamous relationship (at least after TMP, when Spock finally accepted his emotions for Kirk). So the fact that Spock is in another relationship makes no sense. Kirk and Spock's dynamic is the heart of Star Trek. Plus, Uhura's with Scotty dammit!

I love Spock, I have no problem with him having a girlfriend. I just don't think him and Uhura are very compatible.

Well as one who remembers the TOS episode Charlie X in which Uhura sang about how much of a player Spock was, while the later knowingly grinned, I'm glad to see the new writers do something with what was hinted at so long ago.

The same thing with McCoy's divorce, which was in his original character write-up but deemed too controversial for 1960's television. (I wonder if we'll finally get to see his estranged daughter.)

Hinted at? There were, what, two episodes with anything Spock/Uhura-y? And Spock pretty much turned her down the first time, and the second time was pretty playful, but never brought up again. So maybe they considered it for TOS, then dropped it. Doesn't mean anything. People making tv shows consider and drop ideas all the time. Plus aren't you forgetting Scotty? By the time The Final Frontier came out Uhura was finally able to get a white lover. And it was Scotty. Not Spock.

Well, it's not *real* canon- meaning, Roddenberry had to die and be so for about 18 years before anyone could breathe any kind of life into this pairing (oh, and they had to get completely new cast/writers/directors). Yeah, yeah, I know S/U fans like to throw around the whole 'but they MIGHT have had a romance early in the series!', the official evidence for which I have never found. But the point is they never did in real TOS (I think they only interacted about 5 times total in the entire course of the show and the movies put together and most of it was just 'Open a frequency, Lieutenant' 'Aye, Sir') whether they "planned" to or not (which, I hate to say, would have been a rather daring -if not impossible- feat given the unfortunate 60's view of interracial/specie relationships). Well, they still managed to work in the best love story of all time between two males, so I guess it wouldn't have been impossible- just about 1,000x lamer. XD

So, yeah, much love for Uhura and Spock as characters, but they just don't make any kind of sense together to me and I think it's pretty obvious they were only paired up to provide more heterosexual makeout scenes, not because they had some epic, well-developed story or awesome, incredible chemistry. Even if I wasn't an avid K/S fan, I'd still think their pairing half-assed and totally random.

Yes. Spock/Uhura needs to die, effective immediately. Very hopeful of much more interaction between certain ... other characters in the next movie.
