Warning: gore and child death. Also clowns.This comic is over a year old, so it's about time I posted it here. Done for the Vertebrae Horror Anthology, which is still not out (seriously, it's been over a year since the kickstarter, jeez), but hopefully I'll see this gross old thing in publication someday. And get paid, which would be nice. Still, though, it was fun to do!

I've been keeping this in my inbox because I've really just wanted to praise this comic-- fantastic horror story told in just a single strip! The painting technique you used for it really fits the happier tone in the first panel but melts wonderfully into the more gruesome outcome of the comic!
I know this is an old piece of yours by now, but one thing I'd like to point out in the first panel is to pay less attention to detail in the people and parts that aren't the focus point- even when centered and painted with more detail, the characters blend a bit too smoothly into the rest of the panel and it becomes more of an entity of several focus points (like the boy's eyes in the bottom left corner that catch your eye, perhaps it would have been better if he had none)
Fantastic work though, it gives me the shivers!

Oh gosh, sorry I didn't see this sooner! Thank you so much for both the compliments and the critique--while this is pretty old, that doesn't mean I'm not prone to the same mistakes. I'm glad you feel that it came across as a good ol' spooky story overall, though! Horror comics are the hardest to pull off, in my opinion, so knowing that people enjoyed this one is fantastic.

I've mostly been doing college/personal comic work--I'm mondo bad at balancing internet social life, IRL social life, personal work, and schoolwork, so I tend to prioritize one or two and utterly flake out on everything else. Hence my frequent and lame disappearing acts. But I made a new year's resolution to try and be better about all that, so we'll see if I can keep it up! I'M GONNA TRY TO BE BETTERRRRRR
