Description
Tenno ‘Fedorova’ Assault Rifle
“A reliable, well-rounded, if slower-firing assault rifle with predictable vertical recoil. Use its enhanced zoom to pick off enemies at longer ranges.”
Lore:
One of the most early forays into automatic weaponry by Orokin Archimedians, and an ancestor to the Tenno ‘Avakan’ rifle series, the Fedorova may seem simplistic. It doesn’t have a unique burst gimmick, it doesn’t have a fire selector, and it can’t nail people to walls. It has noticeably lower damage than the Bruin, Argonak, and Buzlok, along with a lower fire rate than the Boltor Prime. It doesn’t come with an auto-spool system. And it doesn’t have a grenade launcher.
It’s just an assault rifle.
And that’s enough. It’s a reliable and powerful weapon with balanced stats that occupy a happy medium between these three high-damage offerings, high-velocity bullets, and precision. Unlike most weapons in Warframe, it has predictable recoil that gradually moves upwards with sustained fire, as opposed to spraying bullets in the general direction of a target.
While the Fedorova can just as easily be defined by what it doesn’t have, there’s one great advantage it does have - and that’s being a powerful, versatile all-rounder rifle that’s capable anywhere from the tight corridors of spaceships to the wide expanses of the Orb Vallis, Plains of Eidolon, Ganymedean paddies, and Dziewannan sight lines.
Compared to its descendant, the the Tenno Avakan Prime, it has higher damage, but… lower magazine size, lower fire rate, status, and lower crit potential. It’ll always crit better, though.

Artist Notes:
Okay, this isn’t quite as interesting as every other weapon I’ve made. No gimmicks of any kind.
But I wanted to make something that stood out among my various weapons by virtue of just being… normal. Every assault rifle I’ve had has included some kind of gimmick, and - as my fictional Warframe arsenal easily rivals the game’s in terms of sheer size - it felt right to have a perfectly normal alternative.
Mechanically, this is inspired by my early days back in Destiny 1, using high-damage, low-RoF weapons in the vein of Shadow Price, and I think the Vanquisher. The Shadow Price is actually the one I remember most. That said, I was much more of a hand cannon fan. I did horrible things to people with Thorn and a Party Crasher. I once got 41 kills in one match with that stuff. That was fun.
But that’s beside the point.
It was the most boring but practical sort of assault rifle I could think of, so that made sense. This is actually inspired by some very old Studio Qube art from the earliest days of Warfare, which was never used. I was kind of interested in how it looked so… prototypical… and I wanted a Warframe version of the Fedorov, widely considered one of the world’s first assault rifles.
I just had no idea how to make a Fedorov not just a photocopy of the actual weapon into Warframe until I saw said Qube art.

Another great design. Dawn I wish your designs could be added into the game. Well done.

I feel ya man. I wish my designs could be implemented. Especially the revolvers.

Thanks! I kinda love how Warframe can have these weirdly organic elements where parts can just blend into each other, so I wanted to have fun with that. The general grip shape is inspired by the Japanese Type 2 SMG - I thought it'd make a really fun silhouette if I worked from that.

Awesome stuff, pal. I don’t know if you’ve seen some of warframe’s concept art but it’s insane.

Super cool you take inspiration from that!

Thanks! ^~^
I love Warframe's concept art! Sean Bigham has actually actually praised an autoshotgun I made like 2 years ago that was inspired by Warframe's anniversary weapons. I spent a lot of time 2-3 years ago coming up with weapon ideas for slightly more grounded properties like Destiny (or, I guess, Aliens, but that was a one-off) but the thing that's so... freeing ... about Warframe's art style is that you can do pretty much anything.
Speaking of the Rubico, (not the Prime version - long story short, the Rubico Prime in that link there is a fancier, buffed version of the earlier Rubico) there was one weapon I made that was basically just the Rubico, but as a Browning Automatic Rifle.

It's just a gun. It's just a gun that does it's job very well.

Ahoy has the best narrating voice besides Morgan Freeman. It was his Iconic Arms videos that got me really interested in firearms design.

It's meant as fanmade stuff for Warframe! I actually have an enormous thread for stuff like this on the Warframe forums, and I also have a couple friends here - HugintheCrowDA and AlmightyJado - who do the same thing.
