Non-Stop Journey

A few days after her arrival, Shine comes out of the works in a new lively of yellow and blue with the words LUNAR RAILWAY on her tender.

Shine smiles as she puffs around the yard and stops in a siding were Princess Sodor was resting, the maroon engine was amazed by Shine's new lively.

“very nice lively” commented Princess Sodor.

“thank you” said Shine “I like this new lively, it makes me stand out”.

“I suppose it does” said Princess Sodor “I do also like my own maroon lively, letting me remember my two older sisters”.

“oh you are a young member of your class?” asked Shine.

“actually I was the youngest member going by the number 6213” said Princess Sodor “I now go by the number 15”.

“good to hear it” said Shine “I do enjoy taking the Moonlight Express around”.

“well I heard from Princess Luna that you are going to get your own express” said Princess Sodor.

“really?” asked Shine in surprise.

“really Shine” said Luna's voice.

Shine and Princess Sodor looked down and saw Princess Luna coming up to them.

“you are going to have your own express and also coaches” said Luna “it will take some time to repaint them, but they should be ready for you in about a few days”

“thank you ma'am” said Shine.

“you deserve them after helping a fellow engine in their time of need” said Luna.

“I see” said Shine “well I'll always help a friend of mine at my new home”.

“happy to hear it” said Luna, and she turns and heads back to the station.

“oh gosh, having my own coaches” said Shine.

“you are one lucky engine” said Princess Sodor “I also have my own coaches”.

“you do?” asked Shine.

“yes, they are my coaches for when I take the Canterlot Express” said Princess Sodor “their names are Aurora and Mimi, even Princess Luna enjoys travelling in them”.

“Princess Luna travels on your trains, wow that is lucky” said Shine.

“well... I'm actually her private engine” said Princess Sodor blushing.

“her private engine” said Shine in surprise “wow, that is so lucky”.

“I suppose it must be” said Princess Sodor.

A week later Shine arrives at the station to see some coaches at the station with the same lively as her, Shine soon saw Princess Luna at the platform.

“here are your coaches Shine” said Princess Luna “the first run with them will be at Canterlot station to Tidmouth at Sodor”.

“yes ma'am” said Shine.

“the name of this express is the Shining Star Express and is the third one on this railway” said Princess Luna.

“thank you” said Shine, she backs down on to the coaches and heads to Canterlot.

When Shine arrives she saw the station had a lot of ponies waiting to board the train, Shine stops at the end of the platform.

“this will be a very interesting journey” said a voice.

Shine saw a alicorn standing next to her with a kindly smiles and she looks all over Shine.

“you must be Shine” said the alicorn “my name is Princess Celestia, I'm Luna's older sister”.

“nice to meet you Princess Celestia” said Shine.

“I've thought of coming on the journey to see how it goes” said Celestia “I've also brought some subjects with me”.

Shine looked and saw Twilight with five other mares with her, Twilight was amazed when she saw Shine with the express.

“hello Shine” said Twilight.

“hello Twilight” said Shine, she looks towards the other mares “these are your friends”.

“yes, they are” said Twilight “meet Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow, Fluttershy and Pinkie”.

“nice to meet you all” said Shine “I'm sure you'll enjoy your journey”.

“I'm sure they will” said Celestia.

Princess Celestia, Twilight and her friends enter one of the coaches whiling Shine waits at the platform.

“this is it” Shine told herself.

The guard's whistle sounded out and Shine puffs out of the station heading down the mainline, Shine picks up speed as she heads in to a large tunnel.

Shine puffs out of the other end to find herself on a different railway, she saw other engines going by with their own trains.

“this must be the North Western Railway” said Shine.

She carries on puffing down the mainline as she heads towards a big station, Shine pulls in to the station seeing other engines there.

Shine soon stops next to a big blue engine, the engine looks over and begins to talk with Shine.

“hello there” said the engine “I'm Gordon”.

“I'm Shine” said Shine.

“so you must Princess Luna's new engine” said Gordon.

“yes, I've come to her railway just a few days ago” said Shine “this is my first time on Sodor”.

“I see” said Gordon “well Sodor is always opened up for the Lunar engines”.

“I'll keep that in mind” said Shine “well it was good to meet you Gordon”.

“you too Shine” said Gordon, and he starts heading off, “goodbye”.

“bye Gordon” said Shine.

Shine was soon uncoupled from her train and goes over to the sidings to have a rest before her return journey.

When she was resting, Shine saw a streamline engine going pass in high speed.

“who was that?” asked Shine seeing him go by.

“that was Spencer, the A4 pacific” said Twilight, coming up to Shine, “he always sees himself as the fastest engine on Sodor”.

“oh dear” said Shine “well maybe one day he'll find that speed isn't anything”.

“indeed” agreed Twilight “we'll just have to wait and see”.

“yes we do” said Shine.

Later Shine was getting ready to her express back to the Lunar Railway, she saw Gordon coming in but also Spencer.

“I see you must be the new engine” said Spencer.

“yes, and I am really useful” said Shine “you'll have to see that speed isn't always everything to do with the railway”.

“we'll see” said Spencer.

“oh don't listen to him Shine” said Gordon.

“thank you Gordon” said Shine “I think Spencer should be taught a lesson”.

Shine hears her guard's whistle and she pulls out of the station whistling goodbye to Gordon and making her way down the mainline.

Whiling going along the mainline Shine saw Spencer travelling on the other track, Shine puffs up near him.

“you best be careful” said Shine.

“I am careful” said Spencer and he speeds off.

Shine just carries on with her express, when she puffs along the line, she come across Spencer again, but this time derailed with his tender blocking her path.

“seems speed isn't always everything” said Shine, she saw Gordon coming in with a crane.

“we tried to warn him” said Gordon as he puts the crane in to place, and it begins to lift Spencer back on to the rails and move his tender out of Shine's way, “you are free to go now”.

“thank you Gordon” said Shine as she carries on with her express.

Shine hurries in to the tunnel back to Equestria and heads towards Canterlot where Lana was waiting with Princess Luna.

“made it” said Shine making it to the station.

Princess Celestia steps out one of coaches and tells her sister about what happened with Spencer.

“I see” said Princess Luna, she turns to Shine, “you did a good job on your first non-stop journey”.

“thank you ma'am” said Shine.

Lana looks toward Shine, she couldn't help but be jealous on how the other engines and ponies were in awe with her.

“you may go and have a rest in the shed” said Luna.

“thank you ma'am” said Shine, and she heads off towards the yard.

Shine backs in to the shed to rest with Princess Sodor also being there resting as well.

“well how was your first run with the new express?” asked Princess Sodor

“it was very good” said Shine “although I did met a A4 named Spencer”.

“oh dear, oh dear” said Princess Sodor “he often tries to let himself be the best”.

“I've noticed that when he boasts about being the fastest engine” said Shine “I do think Sparrow is a better A4”.

“Sparrow is a more well-mannered A4” said Princess Sodor “and he does what he can for the railway and it's service”.

“indeed he does” agrees Shine “he reminds me of my friends back in America”.

“oh please do tell me” smiled Princess Sodor “I can also tell you about my railway, it will be grand for us both to hear about each one”.

“yes, it would” said Shine “it's begin our talk for our railways”.

“agree my friend” said Princess Sodor

With that the two friends begin to talk about each other's railways, knowing they were both good in many ways.
