Description A character design sheet for an idea I was tossing around a bit. I was thinking a Victorian vampire hunter, prim and proper lady while in company, but totally BAMF when on the hunt. Sort of a cross between Lara Croft and Indiana Jones, with a healthy dose of Underworld thrown in.

Funny story about this picture. I had initially wanted to draw this as a "paper doll" as it were, so that I could draw different costumes on a new layer over top and have a pretty good idea of what it would look like. To that end, I took my lovely Faber-Castell manga pens, which ink in India ink, and inked it in my sketchbook after scanning it in. The black lines were beautifully dark, and I was actually -- for a change -- pleased with my inking results. Now, I probably should have realized that India ink doesn't insta-dry like the Microns I'm used to using. It's not like this is my first time using it. But for whatever reason, I didn't think of it, and went ahead and erased the pencil lines without giving it enough time to dry. Unfortunately, the ink came up with the pencil. So, this is most likely as inked and finished as this is going to get. I say, most whole-heartedly, d'oh.

Side note: I used a reference for the Victorian undaroos, and they're period accurate. From 1901 to be exact, if I recall correctly. :3

You surprise me I was, and still am, an enormous fan of this illustration style. You have very good ideas as well.

Can you think of scenes, stories, that involve this character? The vampire scene right now could use a little improvement.

I can think of a few, but it's all very fuzzy yet. I think this would be a project that I would need to develop a lot before putting out there so that it doesn't fall into the same pitfalls (giant gaping plotholes) that the rest of the genre does.

I think I'll sketch out a couple of illustrations, just for the heck of it.

You speak wisdom, yet I do think you should sketch 'em out, just for the heck of it.
