Appearance >
Rise is a dragoness with a build squarely between that of a NightWing and that of a SilkWing. She’s not as bulky as a NightWing, nor as willowy as a SilkWing. She has four wings all with the same structure as a NightWing, with four digits supporting large, starry membranes. She lacks a ‘thumb’ digit on all of her wings. Her scales are a deep teal color with gradients of green, yellow, and orange along her underbelly, limbs and tail, as well as her claws, horns, spines, and the leading edges of her wings. Her entire body is adorned in hundreds of NightWing-like ‘stars,’ but upon closer inspection it becomes clear that they are actually small white dots of varying sizes and not silver ‘star’ scales. She has a pair of flexible, non-retractable antennae sprouting from her eye ridge, and her horns are curvy but rigid.

POWERS >
Horizon’s powers are most similar to that of her SilkWing parentage. She was born with all four wings, but they were far too small to fly with until she had her metamorphosis at the age of 6, during which she gained her silk. Her silk functions exactly the same as normal SilkWing silk does, with the one difference of being slightly silvery in comparison. She, as part of her medic training, learned to weave bandages extraordinarily quickly. Her antennae are useless, but she can move them around at will. She was born under a full moon, but due to her hybrid nature, she never did get a NightWing power. She can breathe a tiny, weak beam of fire, but it isn’t useful for combat. It can light candles and cauterize wounds, but that’s about it. When threatened, she can emit a thick black smoke from her mouth.

Few dragons are as curious as Horizon. She’s always reading something, trying a new method of something, or off exploring part of the island. When adventure calls, Rise always answers.

Rise is a fun dragon to be around. She has a way of staying calm in rough situations, as well as being able to bring down an escalating one. She’s usually pretty chill and doesn’t mind company. It’s pretty easy to strike up a conversation.

Baby Dragonet >
Rise was born in the Silk Kingdom to a middle-class family. She had a brother and sister in the same clutch, and they all grew up together. She had a very normal childhood, for a hybrid, and grew to love the Silk kingdoms

Dragonet >
Rise proved herself very intelligent, the smartest of her siblings. Her sister Aphid was an extremely creative, talented weaver. Rapture, her brother, was of the strong, athletic type. They all served in the military. Aphid served only one year, Rapture is still in service to this day, and Horizon served three. During this time, Rise was taken under the wing of a combat medic called Dawn. Dawn showed her everything she knew, and Rise discovered this to be her calling. She finished her military service to pursue an education, and her parents were delighted when she was accepted at the Alliance University on the Isle Mezzo. She studied for a few years there before graduating. During her time at the university, she met a SilkWing called Alleria. The two became inseparable friends, even falling in love for a period.

Young Adult >
When the time came to join the Alliance, Rise was ecstatic. It was calling her name! Maybe she’d find her purpose here at last. She was very sure she would be sorted into the Order of the Nimbus, and was shocked when the orb placed her into the Order of the Ancients instead. This did begin to make sense, but she never admitted it. She was crushed to discover Alleria had been sorted into the Nimbles. Despite all this, they remained friends, going on countless missions together. Alleria served as a mediator, and Rise as a combat medic. But during one fateful mission, Alleria was struck down in combat. Rise rushed to save her, but her efforts were in vain. The SilkWing passed away in Horizon’s arms.

Adult >
Horizon never did fully recover from Alleria’s death. And although she mourned, the tragedy reminded her of why she needed to do better. Since then, she’s widely considered to be one of the Alliance’s best combat medics. She’s determined to save as many lives as she can, and she’s well on her way to fame.
