Description
This tutorial was made with SAI, so techniques may vary depending on art program used.1. Draw your sketch. The eye appears as sort of a half circle with a triangle attached.
2. Lining. Line your iris and pupil. Remove the sketch layer.
3. Color. Using the magic wand tool, select your lines and fill in your colors on a layer under them. Set your layer to Preserve Opacity.
4. Lighting. Using a color several shades lighter than the base, lighten the area under the pupil. Also, give your sclera(white of the eye) some lighting as well, also, the corner of the eye should be some shade of pink/grey.
5. Shading. Make a new layer and set it to Multiply. Shade the pupil, iris and sclera. Next, make a layer on top of the shading layer and make your pupil. Don't use solid black, and put a small dot of a lighter color in your pupil. This will give it more life.
6. Shine! This will take three layers, all set to Luminosity but for the top layer. All three of these layers should be above the lineart layer. Bottom layer. Rim the bottom of the iris, and make several lines in the iris. Lower the opacity so it isn't too bright. Middle layer. Make a large dot of a faded blue color, overlapping the iris and pupil. Top layer. Two dots of white for shine and a streak of grey trailing off of the top white dot over the top of the pupil.
And you're done!
I hope this was helpful!
