This strikes me as being very 'Manet'-esque.Β And I mean that as a favorable comment.Β The skin softening effect as you note
in other comments gives it an oil paint look, although some of the plants are too sharp for 'Impressionism'.
I like this however way you were striving to achieve.
And red natural hair is a passion for me so I can only add:Β very pleasing.

nice layout though for me all the processing is very intrusive and has the classic "photoshopped to death" look when you see it full size. Β I think there are more subtle ways to get a bit of blemish removing without the plastic effect.

I didn't do it to remove blemishes, it was done because I intentionally wanted that look, but thanksΒ for your unasked for crit and had your port been worthy I may have taken your comments on board but as it is I'll ignore them.

ad hominem? Β Apologies I but you haven't set your response level to 'no comments'

ad hominem...doesn't apply, I already answered your argument in my first sentence, which to be honest I didn't think was too difficult to understand, maybe someone else will explain it to you.

two levels of softness, one is to 'skin soften' everything then I used a technique similar to the Orten Effect, you can google it to find an action...finally sharpen back up and add contrast to suit.

I found instructions on the Orton Effect on Google as you said.
But 'skin soften' as you call it....I have no idea what you mean...care to share what that is. . .

sure...there are many ways to soften the skin, ideally softening the skin will remove tiny blemishes and wrinkles without removing the texture, its a very subtle gentle blur.
there are programes that will do it for you such as imagenomic portraiture, colour eFex and various PS actions.
Also some tutorials around such as

www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGl768β¦
www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsnZ8vβ¦
apply the smoothing to all the image and use a mask to remove the smoothing from hair, lips, hands and feet.
use the orten effect to all the image and mask out the mode
then use sharpening to only bring out the hair and eyes
then add contrast if needed
cheers
John

I am impressed by the smoothness of the photo. Looks like a pre-raphaelite painting, I love it.
