Mainly a couple things. I think it was mainly the presentation of it. They made it seem like there focus was on selling stuff, rather than the actual game. Plus, given the new freedoms the switch brings as the playing console, I was kinda hoping for something a little more openworldsy, rather than another ds looking game. Plus we've already had 2 (4 if you count ss/hg and the classic remakes) games set in kanto, if it was in another regeon, I'd be more pumped. I am excited about overworld pokemon and dressing up eevee, though.
