These flowers are very modest and shy. Most of them bow their little star-shaped heads, but a few smile up at us. They're called Fringed Yellow Loosestrife (Lysimachia ciliata). It was a wonderful surprise to find this pretty scene.

It looks like a complete wilderness, doesn't it? It's right around the corner of my building in an area that has become a kind of no-man's land. When I used to take care of it, there were bushes, trees, flowers, and a lawn. Then I got a new neigbour who wanted the space for his swimming pool and exercise equipment. I could no longer get in there. By now, the pool is gone and the area looks like a forest!

You're right. The fire hazard finally became apparent to me. Everything changes over time - sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse - doesn't it? It's okay. I still have a small garden to bring me joy.
