This manipulated photo was my very first “proof of concept,” or “POC,” to my family that I could actually create a work they would recognize as “art” by combining a fractal image I created with a public domain photo and some judicious photo editing. The effort succeeded, as you can tell by the fact that my gallery now exists on DeviantArt!

A viewer asked me to clarify. The ship is sailing on a fractal sea. I generated the sea's image with Flamelet, a flame fractal generator. That's why it is an artwork, not just a snapshot. It is a "manipulated photo."
