I suppose I should explain this one. The grain for this idea actually comes from a famous war photo of a guy in a PBY bomber in the pacific who, after pulling some people out of the water, was working in the plane completely naked (it being the south pacific and hot as hell). How that lead to this, well, I had joked with a friend about doing that same scene with Megumi ... and given the background story here that has developed, she had to get to the plane in a hurry and was unable to grab some appropriate clothing. All SORTS of problems with this, yes, i know, but hey, alternate reality - and the drawing itself is kind of interesting the way it came out, showing the plane interior and other crew members... in fact, the fact that she is topless here does not, to me, register as a primary note of what is going on in the image.Related content

I'm completely ok with the lack of regulation uniform but let's hope she doesn't have to bail in a hurry because vanishing into the landscape would be a problem, I think. She kind of . . . stands out?
Anyway let's hope the Save Point and crew are all safe, even if they are spewing explosive death

The fact that she's topless and shoeless actually adds a bit of urgency to the scene, as well as giving us the fantastic details that her her tattoo and dog tags. As you say, these things could happen (though it was more common in the Pacific than in Europe because of climate, yes.) I recall that, during one of my combat tours in Afghanistan I went out to prep one of our birds' weapon systems for the day and found the crew chief working on the blades wearing his load-bearing vest full of tools, boots, whitey-tighties... and nothing else. In truth it was so hot that no one really blamed him, and nothing was ever said about his lack of regulation uniform. As long as he was getting the job done supporting the mission, who gave a damn what he was (not) wearing.
