Description
Some fanart of the webcomic 'Backing Out of the Outback'.Though Waccoon on FA is better known for his webcomic 'The Wacintosh Files', I was always more of a fan of his other creation 'Backing Out'. The strips were less wordy and more colourful, and I actually thought that if he carried on with it some real plot would develop to drive along what was already a promising series. Like in 'Transmission', the characters are expats living in America (Except they are Australian rather than British, and are living in New England as opposed to Southern California). Sadly the strips took too long to do (I certainly can relate that!) so it is now only updated once in a blue moon. But the characters continue to appear to this day.
The main characters are a family of dingoes; parents Nokino and Darryl, teenagers Chris and Becky (who I guess are twins), and younger brother Josh, who I suppose would be my favourite character since his childish innocence clashes with the other characters.
Either way, a good comic series in spite of it being short lived.

Oh, man... I follow you on DA so why did I never fav this?
BO has always been my favorite creation, and if I could find a way to make it worth my time I'd start doing it again. I'm just so fussy and slow so it's hard to justify 6-8 hours for something that only gets published once a week, making story progression impossible. I thought The Wacintosh Files would take less time due to the simpler art style (and wordiness), but alas, "style" make the art take just as long and that strip has also been sidelined. One way or another, though, BO will likely resurface, as I have no intention to ever work a job longer than 8 hr/day again.
Thanks a bunch! It's so nice to see the entire cast together, which I think has happened in only one other gift picture. That means a lot to me.

That's cool mate. I remember I enjoyed working on this picture too. Love the characters!
To compare, it takes 1-2 days at a time for me to make a strip of Transmission, but the style tends to be more rushed and the backgrounds are all drawn separately. It's simple enough for me to manage two a week, but I do worry I'll come to a brick wall with the writing and motivation.

Well, I finally read that comic, start to finish, and... I loved it, it was so good... it made me feel like... nostalgic or something, anywho, I couldn't sleep, so I said to heel with that, hopped in my car and drove out to my old stomping grounds, it was 2 in the morning... tore up some roads for two hours blasting classic rock and doo wop out the open car windows... didn't get back 'til about 4 AM.

I looked at this. My thoughts went, "What are these? Dingoes?" I quickly read about it. My thoughts went, "Yes. They are."
Oh wow. That's good. I like it.
21 years ago - I used to draw a dingo in my cartoons too.
New England in America (the north east part) and the New England Highway in New South Wales. Coincidence?

Who knows? I think they're fun characters and that their species is a good representation of their ethnicity.
