Hmmm..well i guess that would be true for the anime...even though some of the original series like in Kanto i've noticed that that can say a little bit more then just their name for certain species. Like a growlithe making just growling sounds without hints of it's name, or Ponyta making neighing like noises or snorts...
And i miss the sound that Pikachu used to make in the older games.

Yeah kind of...but we still play the games........and Charzard still roars and stuff whenever it shows up in the show. ^^  Actually never heard it say it's name ever before.
