Description photographed this hover fly today, and it reminded me of an aeroplane getting ready to take off, it's wings were so horizontally flat!

It looks like a machine for sure and the caption got such power - Your gallery is fantastic Karen! I'm just an occassional insect "snapshooter" but it is fun when these little greatures stop be doing their things, great models really.

thank you for your supportive comments. I am afraid i have got just a little 'hooked' on insects and things. you get sooooo much closer to them with a macro lens - and i am realised just how intricate these little critters are. It is such fun photographing them

Very nice macro, the angle and cropping is very nice. However I agree with the first comment that some color correction, a little more contrast and noise-removal would help this picture alot

thanks. i don't like to alter the images at all, other than cropping. I did have a go at the sharpness, but decided against it as it made it too unreal.
