As a fan of Space:1999 since it first came on TV, I've made extensive studies into the subject.(I remember finding a tiny black and white image of an eagle in the local TV guide advertising the show. I cut it out and intensely examined it and practised drawing it for days and days until I could draw one without any reference.)

Hard to believe it's all just folded card stock.

I'm impressed with the versatility of mere paper for things like this.

Thats brilliant! I tried my hand at card modelling the other year using a program that converted simple 3d meshes to model patterns, some shapes worked better than others of course. I found that models like battlestar galactica were much better looking at the end of the day and had far less flaws than any trek ship I tried to model. I must admit tho as not to have tried any anderson stuff, perhaps that was a bad oversight on my part.

I started by buying and downloading WWI aircraft. They suit the paper model format and don't have too many compound curves. I found that weathering with markers or watercolour pencils helped hide screwups and looked more realistic.

That looks so freaking cool!!! But it looks super complicated to me. @_@!

Frohickey In reply to NikTiberius [2011-04-03 19:31:53 +0000 UTC]

It was complicated but it was made in many sub-assemblies so it didn't seem too complex until all those sub-assemblies were put together. I'll admit that I'm going to give it a rest for a while though.
