Description
The BTR-4's currently serving primarily with the Ukrainian ground forces as an APC. Intended to supplement the earlier BTR-60, 70 and 80 designs still in use; the BTR-4 is a modern vehicle built using a more Western design practices than its Soviet predecessors. Whilst not intended as an Infantry Fighting Vehicle, the BTR-4 is typically outfitted with a 30mm Cannon with co-axial 12.7mm Machine Gun along with a mix of ATGMs or Grenade launcher (here its two ATGMs paired with the Grenade Launcher). A number of variants, particularly the BTR-4E which allows the vehicle to be outfitted with the turrets of older APCs (like the BMP-3), are available, with the latest being unveiled in 2017 which gives the BTR-4 a significant boost in armour.

With no model of the BTR-4 available, I went ahead and build one from scratch starting on New Year's day (which was mostly working out how all the bits would go together - with a liberal amount of Netflix in between). The wheels are copies from Empress Miniature's BTR-80, along with ATGMs and smoke dischargers from their BMP-2. Besides that everything else is plasticard or clay (with a bit of balsa wood chucked in). Potentially besides a BTR-3 this'll be the APC for half of a prospective Ukrainian Spetsnaz force I'm planning.
