Description “Wake up Sweetie,” She whispered as she brushed the child’s hair out of her tiny face. “It’s time to get ready for school. We don’t want to be late, so come on, time to get up.” Eyes fluttered open at the sound and touch from her mother as a yawn was stifled from her stretching. “Okay mommy.”

The mother smiled as she withdrew her hand and watched for a moment longer to ensure her daughter was getting ready. As she walked back to her own bedroom, her husband stood beside their bed tightening the belt on his pants. “Are you sure about this?” he asked, briefly looking towards her with concern before turning away towards the mirror to put on his tie. Soft arms wrapped around his broad shoulders as she placed her lips at the back of his neck. His movements stopped as he savored the feeling of her pressed against him, his eyes closing as he rocked his head to the side and brushed his cheek against her forehead. “I’m sure.” She said softly. “Dr. Morris says he’s made a lot of progress, WE’VE made a lot of progress.”

“But he’s not you, I’ve never had to worry ab—“

“I had you.” She interjected as her husband turned around to face her. “All he had was me and he wasn't so easy to forgive for everything that happened to us as kids, and--  Why are we talking about this, we’ve been through this before.” She said with a sigh, becoming slightly frustrated at having to defend her reasons all over again. “It’s been years, you've got to give him a chance.”

Her husband smiled softly as he stared into her golden eyes as he cupped a hand against her face. “I know, I know. I’m sorry.” He whispered, not wanting their daughter to overhear their conversation. “I trust you.” He leaned forward and planted a tender kiss against her lips causing her to smile back in return.

“Then trust me when I say that he’ll never do anything to hurt me. I’m all he has. This family is all he has.” She brought up and wrapped her fingers around his hands as she pulled them down away from her face. Giving one last kiss to the groove of his neck, she finally pulled away from him. “Now get ready. We’re all going to be late at this rate.”
As she turned to leave the room he called out to her, “Sik?”

Sikotic paused at the door as she turned her head to look at him over her shoulder.
“I love you.” He said, his fingers fumbling against his tie as he tightened it around his neck.

“I love you too.” She said before leaving the bedroom.
