Description

Origional app: sta.sh/05s2urv901e
First Update: sta.sh/0w0ntdck0if

→Name: Pops

→Age: 36 Since Christmas, he considers himself 37 38 (he aged again OAO) . Appearance-wise he looks like he's in his early 20's.

→Gender: Male

→Height: 6’ 1”

→Home Area: Willowoods. He has a small cottage right by the soup kitchen, but he often spends the night
in the soup kitchen as well.

→Job: Owner of the soup kitchen. He works hard to make sure a hot meal is ready any time of
day (and most of the night) in case someone comes in hungry.

→Toy: Bake-Easy brand oven: a toy oven that cooks food with a light bulb.

→History: Pops was a Christmas present for a girl
growing up with a single mom. Money was scarce, so getting a new toy was a real
treat and the girl took to him real quick. Whenever the girl’s mom cried and
worried where the family’s next meal would come from, the girl would make
little light bulb-cooked treats with her little oven, and Pops became very protective
of her. He began thinking of himself as the girl’s “Pops”, hence the name. As
the girl grew up she really took to baking and began really enjoying cooking.
When she outgrew Pops and moved on to the actual oven, Pops still loved the
girl from storage in the closet. He could still hear her get excited about new
dishes she learned and tell her mom all about the big dreams she had to become
a professional pastieree and open her own shop. He especially loved to hear
others reactions to her dishes and glowed with pride fully believing it was his
influence that made the girl love cooking so much.

But he also heard other things. When the girl grew into adolescence he began
hearing phone chats with boyfriends, not just the squealing but the arguing and
tears. The “long-term nuisance”, as Pops referred to him, was a particularly
low voice on the phone that Pops began to loathe. It was this boyfriend that
convinced the girl to abandon her aspirations in baking and to pursue a “safer”
career route. He was also the voice who made the girl cry the most. Naturally,
he was also the voice that the girl ended up marrying and moving out with.

Those years were the longest for Pops. Still tucked away in a closet, he could no
longer hear the girl. He had no idea if she was happy with her new life. She had
no idea if the long-term nuisance was upsetting her. He only aged with the girl’s
mother, always worrying. Eventually the girl began coming back to visit her mom
for holidays. Conversations confirmed that the girl had in fact stopped pursuing
professional baking, but she still cooked as a hobby. He began hearing about a “fantastic
lasagna” that she would bring home to her mother. The girl would brag often how
“this secret recipe is the envy of all my friends and neighbors” and how often
her neighborhood would set up occasions to get together just for an excuse to
eat together. Pops was still bitter of her husband for making her give up her
dreams, but he began softening up to him. The girl was not living the life of
her dreams, but she seemed content enough. He had to admit, there was a charm
to the idea of cooking a special meal for the ones you care about.

And then came the baby. Visits to the aging women, now called “grandma” became more
frequent. After some years the faithful day came when Pops was taken out of the
closet. Pops was finally able to look at the girl, now a full-grown woman, the
long-term nuisance, and their daughter. The girl, the mother, smiled when she
saw Pops. She told her daughter all about him and all the treats they used to
make together all those years ago. To Pop’s extreme delight, he was now to be
handed down to the daughter. He was brought to a new home where he would get to
spend his life with the girl’s family, hopefully to be loved again.

When the daughter came to use him, Pops was ecstatic. The daughter was the very age
the girl was when he was in his prime, and though she looked quite a bit like
the long-term-nuisance, there were still traces of her mother in the shape of
her nose. But she completely lacked her mother’s talent. This girl wouldn’t let
anything cook inside the oven for more than thirty seconds. She was then surprised
to find that the food she prepared was severely undercooked. “This crumby old
thing is broken!” she whined to her parents. The long-term-nuisance checked Pop’s
light bulb to find that it was still in perfect order and assumed his daughter
was right; he told his wife that Pop’s was simply too old to be functional and
needed to be tossed. The girl, Pop’s girl, said she wanted to put Pops back in
storage for keepsake, but the long-term nuisance argued with her just as he did
in their youth. The girl gave up on Pops just as she did her dreams, and Pops
was thrown away in the kitchen’s garbage can.

Beyond furious, Pops made plans to speak up to the humans and use his last words to
curse the long-term-nuisance and his child. But a letter appeared next to him
instead making him pause. Even with this alternative option, he was still
tempted to make one final stand. But in his pause, he heard conversation. It
was dinnertime. The daughter who had made him out to be useless was squealing
with delight. Mom had made fantastic lasagna, her favorite. This was not a meal
to be interrupted with bitterness. Instead, Pops sat in silence in the same
room as the girl he had watched grow up as she enjoyed a scrumptious meal with
a family she loved dearly. By the time the leftovers were thrown out over Pop,
he had abandoned his wrath. He accepted the letter with the fond memory of a
family meal and a sweet savory taste in his mouth.

→Personality:
Pops is extremely honest and friendly, though a bit outspoken. He’s the type who
wants to be friends with everybody and who’ll put an arm around a stranger and
speak to them as if they’re old friends, regardless of how they react. He has a
big voice and a bigger laugh, but a rather short temper and endless supply of
stubborness. If he’s upset he’ll tell you bluntly and if issues go unresolved
he tends to hold a grudge; the easiest way to make him angry is to insult his
cooking.. For the most part though he’s optimistic and cheerful. As you can see
in the picture, he keeps the “oven” in his chest wide open. He tells people
this is because “he wants to live his life with heated passions, a warm soul,
and a heart wide open for all to see.”

→Additional Info:
To this day Pops is still trying to figure out the “fantastic lasagna” recipe. All
of his attempts, while good, are not what he remembered so he serves these in
the soup kitchen. He’s constantly on the lookout for different ingredients and
will probably ask visitors to bring in “any odd edible-looking thing” for him
to experiment with. He won’t serve it unless it’s good though.

He uses his left hand as a potholder and for taking things out of the oven, but his right hand is normal and does everything else.

No, he cannot cook food with his chest. Like in his toy form, it just contains a light bulb and is not suitable for making any real food.

He HATES the blocks. “After the lives all the toys here had to get through, the last thing we need is for a mindless empty-shells of toys hovering around. Not in MY kitchen.” His stubbornness gets the best of him and he always shoos them away from the kitchen, even if it leaves him overwhelmed with work. If you see blocks cooking, chances are he has no say in the matter.

I'm so psyched I got in! Thank you so much!
I'm really looking forward to RPing as well. Do you know if everyone uses the Skype account or if some still use the DA chatroom? I have a Skype, but I never use it...

The majority are only on Skype, but the DA chats do have some activity too! Don't worry, you'll still have the chance to talk, RP, and be active in our group without joining the Skype chat!
