Reedie is under no impression that her size and strength will intimidate anyone, but don’t think that holds her back. Instead she measures her worth in knowledge and skill. If information is power, she wants to know everything that’s going on—from gossip to the actual truth behind it. She respects talent of any kind, and if they’re willing to teach her, all the better. While she can be rather pushy sticking her nose in other people’s business, she won’t spread hurtful rumors so easily. She’s more interested in investigating the story behind it and wielding the consequences carefully. As a social creature she knows that too much trash talk is bad for a reputation, and she would rather keep good company or make a new friend.

History:
Reedie came from a small freckled clan that specialized in—stereotypically—smithing. Her family in particular were whitesmiths, working with ‘light’ metals like silver and gold as opposed to ‘blacksmiths’ that used iron. While they often worked with gold, that was not to say they were notably rich, their stock was simply a higher quality asset. Papa Greer was a cautious tiny man who was always at odds with fiercer go-getter wife. Business was always an argument, but in the end, their ideals balanced each other out.
They birthed two sons before Reedie, the older more aggressive like Mama Greer, the second more careful like their Pa. With only one year between them, the Greer brothers grew closer to each other than they ever would be with the sister who would come five years later. Reedie showed more of her mother’s spirit from a young age, but as a girl, her parents tended to spoil her more. She wasn’t told ‘no’ when she wanted more sweets, and despite demanding respect for her strength, was still clothed in cutesy ribbons. For it, her oldest brother never got along with her, and the middle brother tended to follow the older.
It lead to endless prank wars, competitions, and occasionally, full blown fights. Reedie never stood a chance physically fighting, but occasionally she could trick them into embarrassing themselves. By the time Reedie was old enough to start crafting alongside her brothers, the pressure was on for seeing who was more skilled in the family craft. After a few years of practice, she challenged them to a contest: whomever made the sharpest, most valuable weapon would be the winner.
Reedie lost.
Reedie lost horribly.
She didn’t have the experience her brother did, but she’d always hoped that her mental abilities would still surpass his somehow. Both brothers laughed, and even her mother had to suppress a chuckle at the sight of her first attempt. From there, her stubbornness got the better of her. She swore off smithing with metals from then on.
And she did. Crafting may have been in her blood, but her clan’s location held more than just ores; there were forests supplied with lumber. With the axe she created horribly beyond repair, she took to the trees for new supplies. This time, she kept her first attempts hidden, determined to make this new skill work. She put away her ribbons, and gave her parents no opportunity to coddle her.
Even so, there was only so much she could learn on her own. She eventually managed to build shelves and drawers that could technically serve their purpose, but if she truly wanted to become great, she would need a master to teach her the craft. There was no such craftsman in her clan of metal workers; she would have to travel into the bigger world alone. And if that meant working under another carpenter later to pay off her debts, so be it.

Likes:
Anything homecooked—unless there are grapes or raisins involved.
Stories. True or false, so long as it’s interesting.
Buffaloo’s, not the milk-producing Buffamoos, the green ones. For whatever reason, she associates them with good luck.
Most anything green. Buffaloos are luckiest, but other monsters, foods, and outfits this color also strikes her as lucky. Green grapes are absurdities.
Making things unnecessarily complicated and using big words. It makes her feel smarter.
Reading. Nonfiction is her favorite, but she’ll read anything dramatic.

Dislikes:
Being called “short”. She knows her height and does not need it to be pointed out.
People assuming that since she’s a dwarf she’s good a forging.
Losing. Most people dislike this, but Reedie takes it to a new level, holding onto grudges even from the smallest of losses.
Rain, fog, and snow. Weather like that makes lumber wet and unfavorable to work with.
Her oldest brother. She’s still miffed with the rest of her family for laughing, but she refuses to speak brother who won against her.
Ducks. She hates ducks. One startled her as a child, and she’s held a grudge against them since… but to be completely honest, they give her the creeps. She’s flat out afraid of Big ducks.

Additional Info:
Her dwarven speech pattern is noticeable but not distracting for the most part. When she gets more emotional however, it becomes thicker. (“You/your” becomes “ye/yer”, consonants are replaced with apostrophes…etc.)
She uses her first and last name interchangeably. Feel free to call her “Reedie” or “Greer’, there is no preference.
Her eyesight is absolutely terrible. She’s extremely nearsighted and won’t fend well without her glasses.
She keeps most of her carpenter tools on her in her front pockets, which are quite heavy.
She calls her alldale “Dale” and uses it both for chopping wood and defending herself while collecting lumbar. It’s the axe she made when facing off against her brother—the weight is grossly unbalanced and occasionally the top flies off the handle, but she’s too stubborn to part with it.
