when I need it yeah for dragons and things like that no. But if I draw a horse, I dont know its anatomy 100%. same with people. I can basically draw people out of my head but its good to have reference for different facial structures and what not.. I actually have binders: One for horses, one for humans, and one for landscapes, and one with art I just like (for inspiration). that I fill with reference material. I never outright copy anything anymore (unless I'm doing a portrait, copying what you see is good practice), I might use a leg from one pic or just look at it to understand how a muscle lays.

look at joe jusko hes a god at what he does and still uses references. proof: [link] [link] see how he uses pieces of multiple photos then improvises? Thats what I do, if anyone tells you using references is cheating. Ignore them. you should read this when you get time, its really inspirational and will make you more confident in your abilities [link]

yeah, its pretty simple words, but some you might not get if you aren't fluent in english.. I can perhaps ask the girl if she has the text and throw it in a translator.. would be a rough translation but would help.

the what about style section. People want a style.. which is, you see an artist and you recognize their work, because its their "style". Like adam hughes, you can pick him out of a crowd in a second.

You cant start off with a style, you have to find it, develop it. She says open a new folder on your computer and start saving artwork of artists you like. To use them as inspiration. (like a pic on DA? right click and save it to that inspriational folder) She said use bits and pieces of it to make your style. If you really like how someone draws an eye do it, but if you dont like how they do the corner of that eye, change it. With time spent you will soon develop your personal style.

I was really influenced by adam hughes but ended up just going off in my own direction. Im still learning and developing my style. The best thing that you can do as an artist to help yourself is study anatomy, of humans and animals. So you know how things work ,and why they are shaped the way they are.. You will soon memorize the shapes and be able to draw it on your own. It's not good to study anatomy off others art, if they are drawing it wrong then you will learn to draw it wrong as well. this is what I did when I was starting out, when i started getting some anatomy books and just memorizing the body shape it helped so much.

but you're young. You have soooo much time to grow. I bet you will be outright amazing by the time your my age (23) if you just keep up the good work. Dont put yourself down. Just say, Ill keep getting better. You can never get worse, only better.

No prob.. If you want a list of anatomy books that are great Ill give you the names of the ones I use. But your parents would have to approve since there's nudity in them.

this is copy pasted from a comment I gave to another artist I was helping:

out of all the books I have these are the ones I reccomend:
1.Dynamic figure drawing by Watson Guptill

2.Drawing human anatomy by Giovanni civardi. I love this one because his art is very accurate and he gets into how the body moves and bends, not just showing the basic anatomy but how it works. his section on hands and feet is amazing. he also has the male nude, and the female nude but I never ended up buying them. (dont know why).

3. I would recommend this book to any artist. 'The artists complete guide to facial expressions" its AMAZING. they dont just show the muscle structure of the face but how it works and moves. they go through each expression showing different angles. They also show expression through history and how many sculptures the expressions didn't convey the expression they wanted to. like, sad but instead it looks frightened. Its a spendy book but if your lucky you can find it used or maybe ask for it for a gift or something.

4.this is for more advanced artists, but at the same time not. its a very thorough anatomical book. Almost like a medical book its so in depth. but its great for learning muscle structure. "human anatomy for artists" by Konemann

also if you go into the search here on DA, go into the section resources and stock images, then into stock images theres a ton of people to draw in there for free! and animals and everything else you can think of. just make sure you read each artists rules about useing the pics.. some are really over the top picky.

also here are some good tuts Ive used from here:
