Trying to take shots like this makes me realize how useful some grad. ND/reverse ND filters would be.Taken near Cannon Beach.

I only use graduated NDs and it really helps on these light conditions. But let me say that you did a great job, even without it!

Yes, these are all of sunset. We all went for just the evening. Left here around 3, played in the sand for a while, took some pics, and came home around 7. It was a quick trip, but really enjoyable. I would have stayed later, but someone was getting cold and needed a nap.
And Arcadia beach is just south of Cannon Beach.

All you need is a tripod, two exposures and some layer masks in photoshop dude! Tho yes, I love my GNDs! Dont buy Coking what ever you do... false economy.
Nice comp tho, some really interesting rock formations on that beach!

Yeah, that's what I've been doing so far. I don't have that much extra money for filters, but I do have PS! As for the horizon, I'll re-upload a straightened version. Thanks!

No problem! I have one shot that my filters didnt work on anyway, thick layer of fog, with a gap right at the bottom of the valley then trees one either side of the valley. Then my foreground was just orange with the light hitting the dew, it was a really hard exposure/stitch (5 shot pano)... so I dont think filters help every time, but they sure are handy!

Good to see this one accepted into the Photography-APN group, we have been accused of being a little too picky about what we choose to accept and I definitely feel this one is worthy.

Thanks! I actually appreciate that aspect of the group. I joined Photography-APN to see high quality work, and that's what I'm currently getting. If something of mine is rejected, that provides me with motivation to do better. Keep up the great work in the group, and don't cave in to the pressure to accept lower quality.
