Description
Jack "The Cat" Maksa and his older brother Hubert stop by at the beach on their caravan tour of the land of Kozosht. Unlike most of their furry cousins, they don't have an aversion to water and will be taking a swim in the ocean and will try and catch their favourite food, fish.
Hubert appears once before in my collection here:
This render was encouraged by my conversation elsewhere with the lovely so I thank Yuni for that.
Scene created in DAZ Studio 4.11 and rendered with Iray.

That wagon in the background looks almost Gypsy or east European in appearance. Have you been influenced by Slavic culture in any way? My tiny waisted characters, male or female, have Russian ethnic and cultural roots. WWL

It's based on a "Gypsy" wagon or caravan from the British Isles. I believe the general design and idea came over from France and who knows what cultures influenced it. They were first used by travelling showmen (fairs and circuses) but were adopted by travellers of all kinds (Irish, Roma, English and others) as mobile homes. That started in about 1850 and I would guess the design of this example dates from around then.

Most interesting! Of course at one time "Gypsy" meant a refugee from Egypt but that simplistic meaning no longer holds. As a fan of the old Universal horror films of the 1930-45 era, it just struck me as so like the wagons drawn by all those eastern European extras behind Bela Lugosi! Oh, no doubt such people made it across the Channel. Amongst the Hungarians the Roma acquired sort of a sinister repute. The two young men are handsome enough. Do these brothers get along well?

Yes, that have always got along. However, they don't see each other very much which probably accounts for the warmth expressed in this picture. The elder brother, Hubert (right) is a diplomat and the younger, Jack, is a courtier at the imperial court. Jack is a bard or "fool" but collects information and passes it on to his brother, usually by coded message, and is occasionally called upon as an assassin. I'm sure you can imagine the intrigue between all the factions of an imperial court, and it's not without risk, but that is the way of this kind of world.

This is fascinating. Glad they get along well and not engaging in sibling rivalry, which, as a story theme, has been terribly overused. Interesting that you should choose such high offices for such youthful looking young men but they must be very gifted. Now when you say "imperial court" are you basing their activities on real imperial courts such as those of the Holy Roman Empire of medieval times or the Austrian Empire? Perhaps you, like Yuni, are well versed in present day video games or computer platforms? Despite my age, I DO know that such games have inspired much artwork and even fantasy stories and novels. Please keep up the good work. WWL

I'm not much of a student of history to be honest. I get most of my inspiration from fantasy books, and to some extent fantasy RPG computer games (which get their inspiration from fantasy books anyway). In this case from something like Robin Hobb's "Assassin" and "Fool" books which deal in this kind of intrigue. Yes, they are young (early 20s), but in older times young people seemed capable of much greater things than the youth of today (take Alexander, and the great poets Keats and Shelley who both died before they reached 30βKeats was only 25).

You make some very good points. There is certainly no reason for basing your wonderful digital art on strict, dry as dust historical precedent or what is termed by art critics as 'historicism'. When my eyesight has been addressed will check out Robin Hobbs. Sounds interesting. Years ago I read Brian Lumley's "Clock of Dreams" which was loosely based on some aspects of Lovecraft. I've also read some of Clive Barker in more recent anthologies, but cannot completely endorse the whole body of his work.
Β Β Your remarks about brothers Hubert & Jack being able to carry out their duties despite their youth is quite valid. These days we suffer from another drawback: a rather misguided attempt to keep young people entrapped by a kind of enforced "neoteny" or retention of childhood traits past the time when such should be dropped. We also have examples here in the States of young military officers or poets achieving great things whilst still very young. Hope my ramblings make sense. WWL

I don't think either of them are shy so they may well abandon their drawers before swimming. Although I have to tell you that the thong was a gift from a rich admirer and that all the metal is gold so they are quite impervious to oxidation.

What a pair! Look a bit mischievous to me. I like the string too, in my case I'm using Marvelous Design to create some. Not as easy as I thought it would be. I know enough about Blender right now to be dangerous, but getting there...slowly.

Thanks, I'm glad you spotted itβI tried to keep it subtle
I've been tempted by MD, but I probably won't have time to invest in learning it and I'd rather spend what time I have on something like Substance. Blender, though, I've been using for a decade or more and use it all the time.

Which figures and which string did you use at the left figure?
π: 0 β©: 1
FyraNuanser In reply to Catweazle01 [2019-03-31 12:46:13 +0000 UTC]
The left figure is G2M the right is G3M (the skin, used by both, is converted from Michael 4). That is the "panty" item from Battle Driven for G3F, to fit G2M I made a custom morph in Blender and enabled Mesh Smoothing.

Thanks. For G2M there are some good loinclothes available from Sickleyield on Renderosity.
Is there anywhere a tutorial how to do such things in blender?

FyraNuanser In reply to Catweazle01 [2019-04-01 21:25:06 +0000 UTC]
Thank you. There probably aren't specific tutorials on this as it's quite specialized. However, it's very similar to doing character morphs with Blender, so such tutorials will be helpful. I expect SickleYield herself has done some. If you will give me a few days I will look into it and describe my method referring to existing tutorials with notes on the special considerations for conforming items like this.

It turns out that SickleYield has done a Youtube tutorial using exactly the same method that I used with panty above.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=npue0bβ¦
It's a fairly advanced and labour-intensive method, but gives very precise and controllable results. As you must fit the clothing using Autofit to begin with, and this often brings in distortions (particularly parts that are supposed to be rigid (like rings, studs and buckles), it also gives you the opportunity to fix those at the same time. I'd say you have to to be fairly comfortable with using the tools in Blender though.
In the case of the panty, it does not "fit" at all with Autofitβit's too high up on the body and the pouch disappears insideβso the morph is actually quite radical, but it still works as you can see. Once the work is done and you save it as a Prop/Figure Asset, it should fit pretty well to other similar characters of the same generation, so your work can be re-used.
