Considering the Deltarune universe is kind've "wrong" in a way (I.e, Undyne doesn't know Alphys, Toriel and Asgore are split despite having not lost their kids, Mettaton is still a ghost, etc), there's this HORRIBLE feeling in the pit of my gut, that, despite the fact that everyone loves him, maybe Asriel actually ends up being a jerk in this universe??Β

You are right, actually all of this is sad in its own way. There is no drama of monsters trapped but traditional and real drama that makes this all the more painfully =<

Actually, loads of people in the town seem to see Azzy as a lovely person. So from that perspective, it'd be unlikely Asriel would actually turn out to be a jerk. However, it'd be interesting if behind the scenes Asriel was actually an asshole to Kris, or something like that.Β
I always described Undertale as the game that could have you laughing and crying in the space of 5 minutes. Which is true really. As absolutely heartwarming and charming as it was, it still had some really dark themes (considering a huge part of the plot revolved around 2 dead children, that's not surprising)Β

Yeah you are actually right on that, but exactly that is what makes me sooo ... suspicious, like. all the theories there about how Asriel was protecting kris from all the drama until he left. But seeing the room they shared ... Hm it really is empty in Kris' side and that seems like it has been all his life.
I dunno, I think that maybe he can be a jerk or something but whenever no one is watching and that's why he is better than him and so on...Β
Enough about that because it really is a depressing thought XD But really, you are right, this game is beautiful and has so many beautiful and horrible things in itΒ that I shouldn't be suprised if in the upcomings chapters we see more things.Β
All in all, I think that this game is gonna break my heart nevertheless. XD

Yeah, their bedroom is super interesting. Asriel is clearly a very well accomplished kid, whereas Kris' side of the room is sort of gloomy. Not to mention that weird stain next to the birdcage, which many people have speculated could be a hint that this isn't the first time Kris has used that cage for...soul trapping purposes...Β
Another intresting idea to me, would be that Kris feels jealous or inferior to Asriel. Perhaps resulting in some pretty bad mental health issues, or spite towards him.
of course though, we'll have to just wait and see

Yeah!! Like ... it all is very interesting and I wouldn't be suprised if it was kriss after all the one holding a grudge over Azzy.
And that being the reason why he is all like that. All the crippling depression being there for a reason after all right??
I feel bad for him because it's pretty obvious he has a lot of problems. And that is something we couldn't see with Frisk, nor even with Chara.

Well no actually, it's fairly obvious that Chara had some mental issues. At the end of Undertale Asriel says something along the lines of "I know why Chara fell down the mountain, it was for bad reasons" or something similar to that, basically implying that the reason they ended up in the underground is that they were trying to commit sucide.
While I still don't personally agree with the whole "Chara is evil" theory (for many reasons which I could talk about for ages) it's still clear that they probably weren't in a good physiological state if they were willing to kill themselves as sacrifice for a plan to free monsters.Β
Kris on the other hand, well, it's hard to say exactly.Β
Many people have pointed out that in Undertale you're not actually playing as Frisk but rather playing as their soul. You don't control who they are but you do control the choices they make. Perhaps Kris is self aware, and knows they're being controlled by you the player, and for some reason, wants to get rid of that. But it could equally be some sort of mental issue or something to do with Chara or Gaster.Β
I'm mostly interested in if and when the vessel we made at the start of the game will come into play. Because, unlike Frisk and Kris, this is an entirely new character WE MADE. Including their personality as well. There's definitely some big potential with that.Β

It's true that Azzy said that, yeah, I just checked and maybe that is true. To be honest I always thought about it.
In the intro we see that they are chara indeed and goes veeeeery determined to the montain to fall down.
I wouldn't be suprised.
Also, We never see Chara but only in the finale of the genocide, and there is when they says that he woke because of your determination.
I always thought that only at that moment, when your LOVE is so high is where he truly wakes. When it's too late to turn back. After all you only can spare till you get to mettaton. After that, sans, you can spare him. He too is a moron in that battle, so yeah XD
In my mind, I think that it was always Frisk. After all we never get to see chara in other site that genocide, even tho in some neutrals you still gain LOVE like in those almost genocide routes.
Ok, now back to Kris, he really feels self aware of that soul, and to be honest, I wouldn't be suprised if that is the reason why he looks so unestable. Maybe he is evil? Maybe not? He becames souless in the end, and that was bad in UT, why not here?
I'm pretty sure that he had a lot of problems, after all what other explanation would be to them being the only human in a Monster Town?
Im too interested in what would happen with the vessel that we create at the begining, maybe it works, maybe not? maybe that can show us some light on this situation? Maybe it was all a gaster thing? His theme sounds soo frequent in the game ... Ahhh I just want to see where this all goes.
