Description
The next morning, fog covered the island. The only thing that a human could see would be a pair of amber eyes open in distance. The dragon woke up and stretched his short legs. The air was unusualy cool and crisp for early autumn.
He decided to head down to the lake to drink and fish. He passed other creatures, deer scattered at the sight of his black wings. Even dragons stopped fighting over a piece over rotten flesh and looked at awe in his presence. He hated when others gawped at him and where even afraid of him. It had been like that since the day he and his mother where banished from the herd. Banished, for being different, and for creating something different. He shook his head, he'd tried to erase those memories long ago. He was still a young dragon. Not quite fully grown, yet he was independent. Alone on that storm ridden hell hole he called and island. The frosty grass crunched underfoot. As he made his way to the clearing. There where only 3 deer there lapping away at the fresh water. "N-night fury!" Screamed one doe, hiding the youngest of the 3 behind her. He looked terrified and his thin little legs where shaking. The dragon gave a frustrated snort, sending the deer in a panicked gallop back to the deep woods. He hated being the one they all feared. He was a night fury, yes, but he was like any other dragon on this island. He had never felt so alone before. Even the other dragons feared him. He let out a sorrowful sigh and started to silently lap the water of the lake. There was no sign of fishes. But surely they would run away from him, like every other creature on the island. The night fury suddenly stopped daydreaming as he heard a strange noise. It sounded almost like a sort of, crying.
He let his ears do most of the work to guide him to the mysterious noise source. Whatever it was sounded young. He did have to walk far from the clearing to find a little tree, with a shivering ball of fur underneath it. The little creature looked thin and malnourished. As it lifted its head, eyes still closed, he could it it was some sort of canine. It wasn't a fox... no foxes where a chestnut brown colour. He thought it was most likely a coyote. It didn't seem big enough for a wolf. He wondered if he should just eat it right now. The poor thing didn't look like it would survive much longer. It was a miracle nothing had found him already. But seeing the little thing shake in the cold, flooded him with pity. It reminded him of winter night of his childhood. Of course he had his mother with him. This pup did not. He open his eyes and looked straight up at the night fury. They were dazzling, bright blue. They looked like true wolf eyes. This had to be a wolf, a small wolf, but a wolf. He didn't seem scared at all by the dragon. In fact he started to giggle a baby laugh. The night fury smiled. The little pup put his paw on the dragons nose and shakily spoke. "Mama".
For a moment there was silence, until the night fury let out a little giggle. "I'm not your mommy" he whispered. "I guess you can call me daddy, if you want, or fire, that's my real name". "Dada" the wolf replied. "And what about you" said fire wrapping his arms around the pup to warm him. "You need a name". The pup snuggled up to him, his fur was soft and light grey. "You really are small" said fire. "You must be a runt". He had known runts to be abandoned in dragon herds. Perhaps that was why he was lying here, cold and hungry. "You are a strong fighter on the inside, no matter how small you are on the outside" said fire. "Titan" he said to himself, the pup now asleep again. "You are my Titan" he said lowering his head down with Titan. "Dada" the pup whispered in his sleep.
Sorry about the delay with this. I might not have time to do these often. So anyway, fire is in the story! YEEEEAAAAHHHH
