Description

(Oh my gods! I wrote another chapter of outcasts and alphas! Finally! But I have to warn you, this chapter contains the dreaded FEELS. You have been warned)

"Woooooooo!". The howl of excitement echoed in night air. On the edge of the island of storms, two creatures could be seen failing towards the ocean. One looked quite used to the sky and flying, staying calm and relaxed. The other definitely was not calm. It was flailing around madly, occasionally letting out shrieks of excitement as it free fell. One of the these animals was a dragon, in his element, there in the sky. The other was a small, hyper wolf.

"Titan, Titan relax!" Yelled fire. The wolf was twisting and turning in all directions, a look of mad adrenaline rush in his eyes. "How can I?!" Titan shrieked excitedly. He had been flying with fire only a few times before, sometimes sitting on his back, others, in his arms. But never had he been allowed to free fall. Hurtling towards the sea, he felt his heart beating in his chest like it never had before. "Try get yourself straight, stop moving around" fire insisted. With great effort, Titan adjusted his position so he was looking directly down at the ocean. "Now close your eyes" said fire, looking at him. "Uhh.." Titan hesitated, looking at the ocean becoming closer by the second. "Just do it!" Fire yelled. Titan closed his tightly, and suddenly everything changed. He no longer saw himself falling towards the deep salty water below. In fact, he saw nothing. All he could feel was the wind rushing through is fur. He almost completely lost sense of the danger. The free fall had become relaxing. It seemed like a long time until he felt fires arms wrap around him. He opened his eyes to see the ocean, meters below splitting at the power of fires huge wings. The adrenaline rush came back to him, and he let out a victorious howl. Fire smiled. He had raised him well.

The two landed sometime later in the dark forest of the island of storms. There, in front of them was a small hillside cave that they called home. It was hard, damp and cold, but home none the less. Fire yawned and stretched is wings. "That was amazing!" Yelped Titan, bounding into the cave. "I thought you'd like it" fire smiled. "I wish I was a dragon" Titan sighed happily, settling into his favourite spot on the cave floor. "And why's that?" Asked fire. "Because you have freedom" said Titan. "You can fly wherever you want to go, your masters of the air". "Well it's not all that easy being a dragon" fire laughed. "It's harder to be a wolf" protested Titan. "Well at least all you wolves have packs, many dragons live alone" said fire. "All wolves except me" sighed Titan. He hated to be reminded that he was abandoned. He had fire and all, but he had never seen another wolf in his life, let alone been in a pack. "Hey, we've got each other" said fire softly, lying down next to him. "We're outcasts" Titan  murmured sadly. "Don't think of it like that" said fire positively. "We're alphas" he said. "We're our own alphas, We follow our own rules, we do things our way". Titan smiled. "Good night alpha dragon" he whispered to fire. "Good night alpha wolf" fire smiled.

"Get rid of him". It was the alpha of the night fury herd. I heard those words, cold and lifeless in my ears. "But". "No buts!". "Breeding another dragon with a night fury, has caused that monstrosity". I could sense that the other night furys were watching me with unforgiving eyes. "Both you and, it, have broken the rules of the herd" the alpha spoke angrily. "I am wiling to keep you here, you are a good hunter and will prove usefull, but he must leave". Mother growled, narrowing her pupils. "I will not let you banish fire" she spoke through gritted teeth. "Then I will banish you too" the alpha growled. At first mother looked ready to fight, but she backed down reluctantly at the stares of the others. "Come fire" she said quietly, picking me up by the scruff of my neck. I couldn't say anything. What could I say? We had been banished. And then it was a winter night, some time after the banishment. "I'm cold mama" I spoke for the first time. "I know" she sighed. "Stay strong my little fire". Despite the bitter, grey snow that was spreading the cold, mothers eyes were the only comforting warmth I needed. I drifted into a sort slumber, a time when there was only blackness. I awoke to find myself walking in a forest I knew only too well, it was early summer and sunlight was escaping through the green tree leaves. Suddenly mother let out a scream, I looked up to see her hauled up into the air, struggling inside a human rope trap. "Run fire!" She yelled. This was the part I couldn't bare. No matter how much I wanted to stay, to help, I was forced to run away, deep into the forest. I hid for a long time, too scared to move. Silently sobbing in fear. But when he came back, his fear multiplied. The ropes of the trap lay, torn and battered on the ground. Along with thick black scales, stained with blood. "M-mama?" I called into the woods. The sound echoed with an eerie silence. "Mama!". The forest was quiet again for some time. The only sounds that could be heard were the wind rustling softly through the trees, and the sobs of a little dragon with a broken heart.

"Noooo!" The sound of the shriek broke the silence of the damp, musty cave. "Fire!" Titan yelled running to the dragon. He was panting wildly, sobbing between each breath. Titan had seen him like this before. He would sometimes moan inaudibly in his sleep and wake up sad or scared. "Fire, fire, calm down please!" Titan urged. Fire managed to control his breathing, and looked down at the concerned wolf. "S-sorry" he spoke, embarrassed. "Was it "that" nightmare again" said Titan. Fire turned away, not saying anything. He had eventually had to tell Titan about his nightmares. The ones of his childhood, that he desperately wanted to forget. But he had never told Titan about the end of each one. No matter what moments of his childhood he relived, the dreams always ended with him looking down at that gnarled bloody rope. And He would always yell into that same forest, never to be answered, or to see his mother again. "Titan, it's morning...w-why don't you go, hunt something" fire grumbled. He wanted to be left alone for awhile. "I was only trying to help" Titan retorted, disliking his tone. "Go!" Yelled fire. Titan narrowed his eyes, and ran out of the cave. He didn't understand that dragon sometimes. Fire sighed. Titan was right, they were outcasts.
