Long, long ago on a barren, jagged island. There lived a single wolf pack. There were 13 of them in total, 11 omegas, and 2 alphas. The king and his queen.

"Keep pushing Rue" urged Ash. "I...can't!" She growled, gritting her canine teeth. A small crowd had gathered round the alpha's den. It was a very special day for the pack. Rue the female alpha was giving birth. 3 healthy pups already lay next to her, suckling. All of them had smooth thin coats and tiny, sharp puppy teeth. Ash the male alpha, had been practically watching all day. As one by one, his children arrived into the world. With one last scream Rue delivered a fourth pup, who after a few moments joined his siblings. This was the second male, along with 2 females. Rue let out a deep sigh. She was still panting and groaning. "Relax, my dear" said Ash nuzzling her. "It's over now". "It's not" groaned Rue. "I still feel pain". She started to breath heavily. A fifth pup? She wasn't even expected to have 4. Something wasn't different about this one though. Rue seemed to be in a lot less pain then before. After only 10 minutes the pup was born. For a moment there was complete silence as Rue and Ash looked down at the tiny pup about half the size of the others.

For a moment Ash let out a low a growl, "runt". Ash made a lunge at the tiny pup. "Ash stop! Ash!" Screamed Rue with last of her energy. Ash turned around and narrowed his eyes, glaring down at his mate. He practically spat out the pup, who landed on the ground with a thud and a yelp. Rue grabbed him, and held onto him, as if for dear life. "No runt belongs in a pack of mine" said Ash in a tone of hatred. "Now say your goodbyes". "No" whimpered Rue, now with big tears in her eyes. "A-at least me ween him, let him have a chance in life" she cried looking up at Ash with her emerald eyes. Ash gave a groan of both pity and anger. "Ok" he sighed. "But as soon as that thing takes it's first bite of meat, it's out!" He growled.

One by one the crowd diminished. Leaving only Rue, with her 5 pups. She couldn't help but watch the runt as he struggled to fight over milk with his siblings. He was a fighter, she knew that. "I promise I won't let him hurt you" she whispered. "Your my runt"
