Okay, admittedly, part of what inspired this joke is the observation I made about myself in that I would tell people that I'd be an incompetent parent and shouldn't have kids, but if certain recent things I've been writing lately are any indicator, I probably wouldn't actually be half bad. In that I'd at least have my heart in the right place, anyway.

But still, I really have drawn a ton of Harvest Moon comics not too long ago, so why not make a reference to one of them?

How many Amys are there now? I'm excusing my number of Camerons on grounds of in-universe cloning, although even so there's honestly still a lot.

To be honest, I've sort of stopped keeping track of all the ones in the past by now. XD I mostly just focus on the ones that are in projects that I'm currently working on.

Fair enough. I only kept track because over December I tried beating Writer's Block by listing all the OCs I've ever created. Turned out there were about 430 of them.

Whew, that's a lot. Well, if it beats the writer's block away, you might as well! While I'm still going strong on my main all-ages projects, I'm reaching a writer's block on a certain other story of mine because while I have the entire story map set out, it's the little details that I've been having trouble with in the middle. Not to mention the fact that there are some, er, mature themes that ended up becoming much more vital to the plot than I originally anticipated and I'm now like CRAP WHAT DO I DO

Yeah, I'm currently getting a start on an all-original series (no Pokemon in sight!), and now I'm about seven chapters in I'm sitting down to some serious world-building. It's fun, but it's also slightly taxing at the same time. Such is the way of the trade, I guess - good thing I'm still enjoying it!
To be honest, I just like having the opportunity/ability to do things like create a magical artefact called 'The Overclock'. Because I can, because series creator!

Indeed. That's both the pros and cons of creating original series; that being that it takes sooooo much work for worldbuilding, but hey, at least you get to come up with fun names for things!

In a way, I feel like a lot of the worldbuilding for my series has already had a bit of a foundation in terms of it being a great big fusion (no pun intended, lol) of the aliens and outer space elements of almost every single sci-fi story I have ever written. (Which sort of explains why a lot of the aliens in the Federation look so well-designed. Some of them come from older stories, even if a lot of them are new.) Even so, I'm always on the lookout for ways to flesh it out even further. Usually by listening in on peoples' analyses of what is believable and think through ideas along those sorts of things...and stuff.

But yeah. Worldbuilding requires sooooo much effort, but if you're able to come up with a setting that you yourself are more personally invested in as a result, then it's all worth it!

I guess, like most things with writing, how hard it is to do all that stuff depends on how much you enjoy it. I'm actually really enjoying a lot of this stuff, and look forward to dropping cryptic references that literally no-one but me could possibly understand into my story.

I had my own shortcut in that I could base the land and layout of the country in the story on somewhere in real life, and then I just started at the top with layout and what lives where and then worked down to individual cities and stuff, just so that they don't blend into each other. Then is the purely cosmetic stuff like background histories, old legends, so on and so forth... With a bit of luck, they might not even be cosmetic in the end!

I do so wonder about that...

Are you absolutely certain that there isn't, by chance, another candidate who's opinion may speak contrary on the matter?

They wouldn't happen to be from say... for instance, Avalon ?

Or for that matter...two of the player characters that I've played as in the latest two Fire Emblem games? XD

I was wondering when Harvest Moon Amy would make a cameo.

Also, Amy and Chickorita acting as the mommies for Manaphy? That'd be an adorable mental image...assuming hijinks aren't involved.
