Good news, I think: nightmares are simply the ever-active unconscious mind playing out a worst-case scenario. The super-ego asks, "What would I do if events to come went horribly wrong?" and the rest of the mind plays out counterattack / evasive / fallback responses. This is likely why some people are crazy prepared for adverse situations: they "foresaw" catastrophe coming, and devised countermeasures to deal with it.
A similar mechanism for less disastrous scenarios often gives people the feeling that they've had prior experience with a totally new circumstance. This is the basis of déjà vu.

When I was in school, it took me forever to work up the nerve to ask - and yes, they often turned me down. Maybe this is my way of "mooning" them.

Whether one is naked or not, there is a general feeling of overwhelming unpreparedness. Often, in the middle of all of the chaos, you look down and wonder how on earth you could have left the house without your pants!
