As the star-shaped vehicle traveled the cosmos, Kirby remained asleep until he was awoken by the siren of the vehicle's warp module. The vehicle then entered hyperspeed, having detected a planet being plagued by a monster. Once the vehicle stopped near the planet, Kirby got to his feet and was amazed by what he saw: A star-shaped planet with two translucent rings surrounding it.

Meanwhile, in Dream Land, the descendant of Sir Blackwing, Tokkori, was sleeping peacefully, as did a flock of sheep. The flock was soon awoken by an ominous shadow. The shadow belonged to a giant octopus monster named Octacon, who scooped up a sheep and prepared to devour it. The Cappy shepherd woke up to see what was going on, and he saw the remains of one of his sheep. He was then horrified by the sight of Octacon, as it eventually retreated to a hollowed area beneath the cliff where Castle Dedede, which was built many years ago by King Carter, was precariously perched atop.

"What? You were attacked by a monster?"

The shepherd said, "Yes! It was huge and had eight legs and devoured the sheep!"

Sir Wilson's successor, Escargoon, was the one being advised of this atrocity. He then said, "Well, address your problems to the king when he's not busy eating. Right now, he's not taking any questions."

Soon, the two children, Tiff and Tuff, approached him as the first one asked, "Hold on, Escargoon! He might be on to something! What if there IS a monster?"

Tuff inquired, "What if the rumors are true?"

Escargoon then said, "You know the monsters died out years ago. Ask your parents, they'll tell you."

Tiff turned to her father, Sir Ebrum, and said, "Daddy, I have a feeling the monsters might be coming back."

He then said, "So then the rumors ARE true, Tiff. Nightmare might be exacting his revenge on us."

His wife, Lady Like, then said, "What a terrible person, that Nightmare."

Escargoon then heard what was going on and said, "Don't go spreading rumors that aren't true, Court Official Ebrum!"

He then turned to King Dedede, King Carter's successor, and asked, "Could the rumors about monsters returning REALLY be true?"

King Dedede, who paused from eating his meal, laughed and said, "What rumors? And why are you talking about my pet?"

King Dedede then pointed to his pet octopus, which made various Cappies panic.

"There it is!"

"The monster that ate the sheep!"

"It was actually gigantic!"

King Dedede walked up to the fish tank and laughed. Then he said, "If that's a monster, then I'm a peasant. That's my pet octopus, and he likes to eat sardines."

He fed his pet octopus a sardine, which he slurped up instantly. King Dedede then laughed and said, "You see? He's perfectly harmless."

Escargoon then said, "He sure is."

He then backed the Cappies out of the castle as he said, "The king will not ask for any further inquiries from anyone in Cappy Town tonight. Thank you all for coming."

Behind the snail-like creature's back, Tiff looked at the octopus, which somehow gave a menacing glare. Later, in Kabu Canyon, a stone deity of which the canyon was named after spoke up and asked, "Tell me, Citizens of Dream Land, for what purpose have you come to consult me?"

Sir Ebrum was the first to speak up as he said, "Kabu, we seek your powerful knowledge. For three nights, a giant monster has been devouring our sheep."

Lady Like then spoke up as she said, "We believe that the rumors have come true."

The town's mayor, Len Blustergas, spoke up as he said, "If the monster rumors really are true..."

The town's police chief, Bookem, interrupted and said, "Then we might be in grave danger."

Tuff then said, "Do you really know the truth, Kabu?"

Tiff then asked, "Are the monster rumors true or not, Kabu?"

Kabu replied, "The rumors are true that there is a monster among us, and Dream Land is in danger."

Tiff asked, "Why did it come here?"

Kabu then replied, "Some being living within Dream Land must have called it forth."

In the bushes, Escargoon asked, "Did you hear that, your majesty?"

Upset, King Dedede said, "Kabu is lying about me!"

Kabu continued, "The monster was created by Nightmare, who is far more powerful than the monster's summoner."

Bookem then said, "I say we arrest Nightmare and his lackey!"

The mayor asked, "What can we do to stop them?"

Kabu paused and said, "There is nothing you can do."

This sent the citizens into a frenzied panic. A pair of creatures named Lololo and Lalala flew up to Kabu, with the latter asking, "Is there hope, Kabu?"

Tiff then asked, "Could there be anyone who can stop the monster?"

Kabu replied, "There IS one hope: A novice Star Warrior travelling through space named Kirby."

The citizens began to wonder about this Kirby being...

"Kirby..."

"Our hero!"

"He's probably cute..."

Suddenly, King Dedede and Escargoon drove towards Kabu in their tank as the king said, "Kirby? That's preposterous! This Kirby won't save us!"

Escargoon added, "Yeah, the monster would probably have him for dessert!"

Kabu said, "I highly doubt that it will happen."

King Dedede then said, "Then why do I have a tank? For defeating monsters with in case there ARE any, that's why!"

Kabu replied, "A foolhardy mistake, your majesty."

King Dedede began to laugh before he said, "How about I give you a demonstration, Kabu?"

Suddenly, a white flash of light filled the skies as the star-shaped vehicle began to crash land near a cliff. As it did, the citizens were confused as to what was inside. The pink creature that Nightmare failed to turn into a monster fell out of the cockpit of the vehicle, and King Dedede picked him up as he said, "Looks like some sort of alien creature."

Escargoon then commanded to the king, "Quick, neutralize it!"

Tiff then stopped the king as she said, "Hold on, let's see what it's supposed to be!"

She then approached it and asked, "Are you an alien?"

The pink creature was confused at Tiff's question as she then asked, "It couldn't be possible, but could you be this Kirby that Kabu spoke of?"

Knowing the Ebbrian girl recognized his name, Kirby excitedly jumped up and down. The entire population of Dream Land was in shock...

"THAT'S Kirby?!?"

"Kirby?!?"

"He's pink and puffy!"

Knowing that their dreams were crushed, the citizens of Dream Land were disappointed as King Dedede said, "He looks like a weakling to me."

He raised his hammer, but then put it down as he said, "I guess we'll spare him for now. After all, he IS a Star Warrior."

Kirby met his new friends on a different hilltop as Lololo said, "This is Dream Land."

Lalala then said, "Cappy Town is located here, and so are the Cappies."

Tiff then said, "My parents live in a mansion near the castle on the cliff. I'm Tiffany Ebrum, but my friends call me Tiff."

Kirby began to learn her name in order to get used to her. Tuff then said, "I'm her younger brother, Tuff."

Lololo then said, "And we're their friends, Lololo..."

Lalala added, "...and Lalala."

Kirby then simply repeated the names of each one once. Tuff then said, "Seems like he's an infant."

Later that night, the mayor held a celebration for Kirby as he said, "As mayor of this fine town, we'd like to welcome Kirby into our lives."

Kirby then opened his mouth and, like a vacuum cleaner, began to eat the food on the table. Once he finished, he ran off before anyone could scold him. Just then, a Waddle Dee wearing a blue bandanna asked, "Say, did any of you see a pink guy named Kirby run by here?"

Before anyone could answer, Tiff and Tuff ran out the door past him, but when the former of the two did, a strange wand he held began to glow. The two then followed Kirby into the shepherd's shack and found him cowering. Tiff calmly said, "Don't worry, Kirby. You didn't ruin the celebration."

Tuff then added, "But whoever summoned that monster might have."

Soon, they heard footsteps and voices...

"Let's examine this place..."

"There's bound to be a monster here..."

Blade Knight and Sword Knight barged in, unaware of Kirby's presence being hidden...

"No monster here."

"I do see the Ebrum kids here, though."

Tuff then greeted the two, "Hi, Sword. Hi, Blade."

Sword Knight said, "We're looking for someone named Kirby."

Meta Knight, their leader, sensed Kirby hiding beneath a burlap sack as he took out Galaxia and stabbed the top of the sack without harming Kirby. He then saw Kirby with his own eyes and said, "The Star Warrior? The prophecy was right all along?"

Just then, the Waddle Dee in the blue bandanna raced towards them and said, "Guys, I found something inside this Kirby guy's ship! I think it's some kind of wand!"

The wand then suddenly began to glow as it approached the hands of its new owner on its own. Tiff was confused as she held the wand in her hands and said, "What is this?"

Soon, she felt some mythical energy radiate from the wand as it began to course through her body. Her eyes were squeezed shut during the process, and soon she felt the energy flow through her. The wand then shined a bright light as Tiff held it up in the air. The Waddle Dee explained, "I was reading on the prophecy of the Star Warrior, and I discovered that Kirby is the destined one who would help save our world from Nightmare's monsters. It is said in the prophecy that below the king's castle, a dark being with one eye orders monsters to summon in order to disrupt the peace, and the Star Warrior and two others, one of which would hold the sacred wand, would end the dark being's reign of terror by defeating it and Nightmare once and for all."

Soon, an explosion appeared near the castle. King Dedede and his assistant were trying to repair Kirby's starship as the latter complained, "Why is this thing so delicate? It's like it explodes every time you try to turn a bolt on it."

The king said to his slimy lackey, "I don't care what it takes! Kirby might be the monster, and we have to get rid of him!"

Soon, a container was discovered and as it opened, a small star-shaped object was inside. King Dedede then asked, "What is it?"

His assistant said, "It could be the monster's power source!"

The king then said, "I'll do some more research on this thing. You just finish up the repairs."

The snail frowned and said to himself, "Why is the king always so defensive? He's no worse than a commoner."

Just then, Escargoon was taken by surprise as Kirby showed up. The snail then said, "Listen, all I was doing was putting the finishing touches on your ship."

Kirby saw the empty container, as the snail said, "I apologize if it was yours, but--"

Meanwhile, underneath the castle, beyond the deepest dungeon, lies a dark cave. Inside the cave was a robed figure with black hair-like tendrils, a single eye, and a sword. The being then said to himself, "To think that the king would be so foolish to think that the octopus monster was HIS pet. Pah, just as well."

Soon, complex machinery appeared around the being as a shady-looking figure wearing sunglasses and a business suit said, "Welcome to Nightmare Enterprises, Dark Matter. What can I do for you?"

Dark Matter responded, "That octopus monster I ordered from you three nights ago is in the king's possession, as a pet."

The figure said, "Don't worry. The king is unaware of the monster's true potential."

Back inside Castle Dedede, the king then noticed that his pet octopus had a sudden growth spurt as it spat out a bone. As it stared into King Dedede's eyes, his eyes began to glow green. As Kirby approached, the possessed king began to attack him with his hammer. Kirby was flung all over the throne room as Tiff's family saw what went on. Just then, the octopus began to increase in size, eventually becoming the same size as it was when it began devouring the sheep.

Meta Knight protected the family from the collapsing castle, and as King Dedede came to, he was horrified to see that his pet was the monster that ate all the sheep as he screamed, "GAH!!! THE RUMORS ARE TRUE!!!"

His slimy associate then said, "What are you doing, your majesty? Finish that thing off!"

The king grabbed his cohort by the eyestalks and said, "Those four were right! The rumors are true!"

The monster then raised its tentacles, releasing smaller octopus monsters from its suckers. Kirby was pummeled left and right by the octopi as he began to turn a sickly shade of green. Just then, the star-shaped object that King Dedede had found before began to glow in the same color as Meta Knight inquired, "Is that...the Warp Star?"

Tiff was just as puzzled until the star regained its normal colors, and so did Kirby. Soon, she went towards one of the towers and held the star up high, causing light to radiate from it. Kirby then took a deep breath and began inhaling the smaller octopus monsters. After swallowing them, he began to fight back as Meta Knight explained, "That is Kirby's signature attack: Inhale."

Octacon wasn't finished with Kirby yet, as it released more smaller octopus monsters, this time covered in flames. Kirby then inhaled them and transformed as he gained a flaming crown on his head. Meta Knight remarked, "That is Kirby's special power: Copy Ability. He has now become Fire Kirby."

Octacon then began to breathe fire, as Fire Kirby inhaled it and used it against the monster. Tiff then threw the Warp Star to Kirby, which increased in size before he jumped on it. He then flew to evade Octacon's tentacles, and was eventually face-to-face against the monster. Kirby took a deep breath and spewed a jetstream of flames that hit the monster, and within minutes, Octacon would be vanquished.

Sometime later, Kirby would have to say goodbye to his new friends, as he boarded his newly-repaired starship, but not before King Dedede fired a blast from his tank that would bring the young hero crashing down on top of the king and his assistant. Tiff then asked Kirby, "Well, I guess you won't be leaving anytime soon. You want to stay with us?"

Within seconds, Kirby accepted. Unbeknownst to him, a mysterious female figure looked down at Kirby and said to herself, "I guess I'm not the only rising Star Warrior after all. I must still find my mother's murderer, wherever he or she may be."

With that, the mysterious figure departed without a trace...

Sometime later, Kirby would have to say goodbye to his new friends, as he boarded his newly-repaired starship, but not before King Dedede fired a blast from his tank that would bring the young hero crashing down on top of the king and his assistant. Tiff then asked Kirby, "Well, I guess you won't be leaving anytime soon. You want to stay with us?"

Within seconds, Kirby accepted. Unbeknownst to him, a mysterious female figure looked down at Kirby and said to herself, "I guess I'm not the only rising Star Warrior after all. I must still find my mother's murderer, wherever he or she may be."

With that, the mysterious figure departed without a trace...
