Description
The title, Suspended Perception is both literal and figurative in that it relates to the dangling eye aspect and to the feeling of the entire piece. I don’t want viewers to look at my work and understand it immediately. I want them to pause for a while and think to themselves, “…What??” Hence, their hesitant impression, or put another way, their suspended perception of my art. The imagery I get from this piece is of an eye being separated from its head, in order to look from the dark grotto it resides in, through the celestial gateway, past the reality we know, to experience something unknown and beautiful.
