Well everyone else makes this look so cool.

1. Phobs is by far my favorite artist on dA, and probably one of my favorite artists ever. His lines, expressions, character designs, movement, everything is just perfect. If I could have an ounce of his talent I would be happy as a clam.

2. Disney, because who WASN'T influenced by their gorgeous animation back in they heyday? Mulan especially, with its gorgeous Asian-inspired washes and awesome characters.

3. Roy Lichtenstein is one of my favorite artists. Bold lines, colors and eclectic subject matter, not to mention a sense of humor.

4. Digimon Adventures was the first thing to really get me interested in art. I drew Digimon like crazy in elementary school!

5. The Barenaked Ladies were my favorite band throughout Jr. High, and I drew them ALL the time. I learned a lot of techniques just by drawing their awesome sauce faces over and over again.

6. The Venture Brothers is the single best animated television show in history. I think my style is most directly copied from them. They have bold lines, perfect balance between cartoon and realistic, great mix of clean and painterly, not to mention all the show's content is everything I love.

7. Utopias: this one is hard to explain. Mostly I have a strange and unending urge to have the ability to draw the perfect city. And I love pictures that come close to what I imagine that perfect city to be. Hard to describe.

8. Inception got me out of a rather big art block this summer.

9. Seattle Independent Music changed my life! By designing show posters and other things for various bands and blogs, I got lots of practice and a love for design!

10. Books are the best ignition for inspiration! I want to be an illustrator when I grow up.

11. Cold War Propaganda is just cool beans. I think it was a time in history when art was more important than it has been politically since like the Renaissance. I'm talking all kinds of Cold War stuff though, from WPA posters to Space Race craziness to home appliance ads from the 50s and 60s.

12. Dr. Suess is an amazing writer, illustrator and political figure. Stand-up fellow, no doubt about it, and a huge part of my childhood.

13. HOLY MIYAZAKI. Do I even need to say anything?
