In Eclipse there are some convenient things, but in general - it is not clear to whom they made it. Another inhibitory, inconvenient and buggy site v2.0 (version numbering usually ends here)

Got a point there, seems more aimed at the causual user who builds collections of others submissions than those who add new materials or want to discover works similar to their own.

It's one of the reasons i refused to buy core. Regular submitters of art should get core for free, as they are providing the content. Damned If I'm paying twice.

Without artists posting their work, DA has nothing but a pretty site with poor navigation.

You know, I didn’t think about this before, but when you wrote “why should I pay for Core?”. Heck! But you are right!

One of the crazy sides of this crazy world. It’s about the same when I pay money to a bank - de jure “for servicing a credit card”, but de facto - “for giving them my money on credit”. But everyone is already used to this madness.

Credit card analogy is a difficult one. I don't really understand the details, despite that I used to work for a bank.

I prefer to think of it like a theatre, you'd hardly expect an act to pay for the use of the stage when all they get out of it is the exposure, and the theatre pockets all the take.

Actually, not a “credit card”, but a “debit card”

So this is simple:
- Dudes, I brought you some of my money
- 5 dollars from you
- WTF?!!!

Once upon a time (here, in Russia), banks fought for customers and simply didn’t take any fees so that customers wouldn't go to another bank. But now the market is divided, money has turned into colorful candy wrappers and we have what we have.

Ah, debit card.

Fair number of banks over here don't charge for regular domestic debit usage (as long as you are in the black) (but like mobile roaming charges, international usage or credit or overdraft is more because of it).

Used to work for a bank (as I mentioned). At one point they thought it'd be a good idea (transparency,clarity was cited) that they'd charge for essential services and present an invoice to regular domestic customers.

It didn't go down well, so badly it was pulled a month after roll-out as people threatened (or did) transfer their accounts to other banks. 

Everyone knows, most of a banks profit comes from a small percentage of it's customers, servicing the rest of the population is just to ensure confidence in banking in the eyes of the public. It's no longer the middle ages, if the majority of (albeit unprofitable) customers stop using banks, the system eventually collapses.
